Most everyday, since becoming a new creature in Christ some 10 years ago, has been a learning experience! Although the first Bible I ever read was an NASB (New American Standard Bible) with which I did quite well, I came to learn, quite recently, how "perverted" the newer-than the King James translations have been, with the sole purpose to skirt "copyright" laws, with words that had to be changed here and there, which, in essence, changes doctrine.
And changed they were, to the point that one stares in amazement at the chart I have just been sent by a dear friend. Dave (BereanBeacon) and his wife, Mary, have become my mentors, and instructed me in Scriptural ways I had never known before. (Fortunately, I have moved beyond the Baptist teaching these conveyed, which is quite flawed, I have found, as I write this parenthetical statement.)
So, if it is that you are seeking Christ, plan on getting a Bible! I pray you begin with the right one! I aim to retire the brand new NASB Study Bible I had just bought last year. The diversions from God's TRUE Word cannot be overlooked! The King James also comes in a Study edition, (and large print, which is what I need!).

The categories of tables were selected to represent the most significant areas of change in modern translations which affect fundamental Christian doctrine. This listing is only a portion of the overwhelming number of alterations to essential doctrines.
1. THE DEITY OF JESUS CHRIST
"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men." (Philippians 2:5-7)
Modifications to key verses such as this one and others containing titles of the Lord Jesus Christ denigrate the doctrine of His deity.

2. THE INCARNATION
"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." (I Timothy 3:16)New versions change "God" to "He" in this verse and omit other references to Jesus Christ coming in the flesh.
I John 4:3 | that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh | omitted | omitted | omitted | that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh |
Acts 2:30 | according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ | omitted | omitted | omitted | according to the flesh He would raise up the Christ |
Ephesians 5:30 | of his flesh and of his bones | omitted | omitted | omitted | of His flesh and of His bones |
"BEHOLD, A VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD, AND SHALL BRING FORTH A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME EMMANUEL, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: and knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son; and he called his name JESUS." (Matthew 1:23-25)
In the prophecy as it was originally given in Isaiah 7:14, the Revised Standard Version changes "virgin" to "young woman" and the NASB has "maiden" in a footnote. In Matthew 1:25, new versions change "her firstborn son" to "birth to a son", casting doubt upon the virginity of Mary at Jesus’ birth.
Other verses are changed to indicate that Jesus was born of an earthly father. These alterations deny the role of the Holy Spirit in the conception of Jesus Christ and, therefore, His divine nature.
Matthew 1:25 | her firstborn son | brought forth a son | birth to a Son | birth to a son | her firstborn Son |
Luke 2:33 | Joseph and his mother | his father and his mother | His father and mother | The child’s father and mother | Joseph and His mother |
Luke 2:43 | Joseph and his mother | his parents | His parents | his parents | Joseph and His mother |
"Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins." (Colossians 1:13,14)
New versions remove reference to the blood atonement in this and other verses. Words are also omitted or changed which show that the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ is the full atonement for our sins.
Colossians 1:14 | through his blood | omitted | omitted | omitted | through His blood |
Colossians 1:24 | that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ | that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ | that which is lacking in Christ’s afflictions | what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions | what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ |

"Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene...After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country . . .Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen." (Mark 16:9,12,14)
New versions isolate Mark 16:9-20 with the misleading disclaimer that it is not contained in the earliest manuscripts. They also question almost every appearance of Jesus after his resurrection, causing doubts concerning His bodily resurrection and deity.
Mark 16:9-20 | Appearances of Jesus after His resurrection | marginal disclaimer | marginal disclaimer --verses replaced with: "And they promptly reported all these instructions to Peter and his companions. And after that, Jesus Himself sent out through them from east to west the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation." | parenthetical disclaimer | Appearances of Jesus after His resurrection |
Luke 9:31 | his decease | his decease (margin) | his departure | his departure | His decease |

"So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God." (Mark 16:11)
The ascension proves that Jesus Christ is now in heaven. Almost every mention of the ascension is omitted in some new versions.
John 16: 16 | because I go to the Father | omitted | omitted | omitted | because I go to the Father |
Luke 24:51 | carried up into heaven | carried up into heaven (marginal disclaimer) | omitted (marginal note) | taken up into heaven | carried up into heaven |

"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." (I John 5:7)
This is the famous Trinitarian proof text which F.J.A. Hort hoped to remove from the New Greek Text. (see Life and Letters of Fenton John Anthony Hort) It is missing from the New Greek New Testament Text, the English Revised Version and most modern translations.
I John 5:7 | For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. | omitted | omitted (marginal disclaimer) | omitted (footnote) | for there are three who bear Witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit and these three are one. |
Isaiah 48:16 | the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me. | the Lord God hath sent Me, and His Spirit | the Lord God has sent Me, and His Spirit | the Sovereign Lord has sent me, with his Spirit. | the Lord God and His Spirit have sent Me. |

Colossians 2:9 | Godhead | Godhead | Deity | Deity | Godhead |
"And Philip said, ‘If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." (Acts 8:37)
New versions omit this verse and alter others to change justification by faith to salvation through works. Many versions delete "by himself" in Hebrews 1:3 to permit faith in another mediator, such as Mary. The omission of "on me" in John 6:47 allows any belief.
Acts 8:37 | If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. | omitted (marginal note) | omitted (marginal note) | omitted (footnote) | "If you believe with all your heart, you may." "The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." (Psalm 12:6,7)
In this important verse, new versions change "them" referring to the Scriptures to "us" referring to people. Other alterations and omissions diminish the authority of Scripture and discourage confidence in its divine inspiration and preservation.
Luke 4:4 | but by every word of God | omitted | omitted | omitted | but by every word of God* |
Psalm 12:6, 7 | The words of the LORD are pure words...Thou shalt keep them, O LORD. Thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. | the words of the Lord are pure words…Thou shalt keep them O Lord, Thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever. | The words of the Lord are pure words...Thou, O Lord, wilt keep them; Thou wilt preserve him from this generation forever. | And the words of the Lord are flawless...O Lord you will keep us safe and protect us from such people forever. | The words of the Lord are pure words...You shall keep them, O Lord, you shall preserve them from this generation forever. |

II Corinthians 2:17 | corrupt the word of God | corrupting the word of God (marginal note) | peddling the word of God | peddle the word of God for profit | peddling the word of God |
"He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. (John 12:44,45)
New versions frequently change masculine words referring to God to the neuter "One". False religions of this world often identify their god as "the One". The new "Politically Correct" bible calls God, "Father-Mother", and Christ, "the human one." (41)
John 7:18 | his glory | the glory of him | the glory of the one | the honor of the one | the glory of the One |
Colossians 3:10 | the image of him | the image of him | to the image of the One | the image of its Creator | the image of Him |

"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning, how thou art cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations." (Isaiah 14:12)
"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star." (Revelation 22:16)
In the only passage of Scripture which describes Lucifer’s iniquity and fall into hell, most new versions omit the name Lucifer and confuse his identity with Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 14:12 | O Lucifer, son of the morning | Daystar, son of the morning | O star of the morning | O morning star | O Lucifer, son of the morning |
Luke 4:8 | Get thee behind me, Satan | omitted | Omitted | omitted | Get behind me, Satan* |
"What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. (Psalm 8:4,5)
New versions exalt man to being "a little lower than God" and omit many references to his fallen spiritual condition. Cults, the New Age and false religions also raise mankind to the level of being divine or in the process of evolving into gods. (42)
Psalm 8:5 | the angels | God (marginal note - angels) | God | the heavenly beings (footnote -- than God) | the angels |
Matthew 18:11 | that which was lost | that which was lost | Parenthetical | omitted | that which was lost |
Colossians 3:6 | children of disobedience | sons of disobedience | omitted | omitted | sons of disobedience |
Mark 15:28 | transgressors | (in margin) | omitted (marginal note) | omitted | transgressors |
"That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." (II Timothy 3:17)
New versions frequently delete words such as "righteousness", "holy", "perfect" and other requirements of the sanctified life. As a result, the gospel is brought into reproach by worldliness and corruption in the church.
I Thess. 5:27 | holy brethren | brethren (footnote -- holy) | brethren | brothers | holy brethren |
II Peter 1:21 | holy men | men | men | men | holy men |
I Peter 1:22 | pure heart | heart | heart (marginal note) | heart (footnote) | pure heart |

Revelation 22:14 | do his commandments | wash their robes | wash their robes | wash their robes | do His commandments |
"After this manner therefore pray ye..." (Matthew 6:9)
New versions remove 21 words from The Lord’s Prayer in Luke 11 and words of instruction on prayer in other passages.
Luke 11:2 | Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.. | Father, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come | Father, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. | Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. | Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. |
Luke 11:3 | Give us day by day our daily bread | Give us day by day our daily bread | Give us each day our daily bread. | Give us each day our daily bread. | Give us day by day our daily bread. |

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. | And forgive us our sins; for we ourselves also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And bring us not into temptation. (marginal note) | And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation. | Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. Mark 9:29 | prayer and fasting | prayer (marginal note) | prayer | prayer | prayer and fasting |
"This same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." (Acts 1:11)
Important references to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ to establish His reign upon earth are often omitted in the new versions. The New Age Movement, cults and apostate religions believe that "the Christ" is already on the earth and will soon be revealed. (43)
Matthew 6:13 | for thine is the kingdom | omitted (marginal note) | Parenthetical | omitted (footnote) | for Yours is the kingdom |
Matthew 25:13 | the Son of man cometh | omitted | omitted | omitted | Son of Man is coming |

"Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief; when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand." (Isaiah 53:10)
New versions change "sin" to "guilt" in this important verse, thus relieving man of his accountability and placing the blame on God.
Rewording of I John 5:19 blames the devil for sin, as did Eve. Modern psychology in the church reflects this propensity to transfer responsibility for sin rather than to repent. New versions alter many verses pertaining to sin in order to present it in less relevant, personal and severe terms.
Luke 7:30 | rejected the counsel of God against themselves | rejected for themselves the counsel of God | rejected God’s purpose for themselves | rejected God’s purpose for themselves | rejected the counsel of God for themselves |

"And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust from under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the Day of Judgment, than for that city." (Mark 6:11)
References to a final Day of Judgment are often missing in new versions. New Age prophets teach that, since God is love, He does not judge anyone. Belief in a literal hell and fear of God’s judgment are both foolishness and an offense to modern man.
Daniel 7:10 | judgment | judgment | court | court | court |
Matthew 5:21 | in danger of the judgment | judgment | liable to the court | subject to judgment | in danger of the judgment |

"The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God." (Psalm 9:17)
New versions change "shall be turned into hell" to "return to the grave" or "Sheol". In similar verses, "the depths" or "the realm of death" is substituted. Descriptions of the everlasting torment of souls in hell are eliminated or softened.
Psalm 9:17 | The wicked shall be turned into hell | The wicked shall return to Sheol | the wicked will return to Sheol | the wicked return to the grave | the wicked shall be turned into hell |
Deuteronomy 32:22 | lowest hell | lowest pit | lowest part of Sheol | realm of death | lowest hell |

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:6-8)

SCRIPTURE CHANGES IN MODERN VERSIONS
WHICH AFFECT THE INTERPRETATION OF
BIBLE PROPHECY
Who will soon come to establish His Millennial Kingdom?
The NASB and NIV remove references to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Matthew 24:24 says:
"There shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."
Many shall come in Jesus’ name, claiming that they will establish the kingdom of God preceding or in the place of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 6:13 | for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen | Parenthetical marginal disclaimer | Footnote | for Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. |
Matthew 25:13 | the Son of man cometh | Omitted | Omitted | Son of man is coming |
Revelation 11:17 | and art to come | Omitted | Omitted | and who is to come |
Titus 2:13 | glorious appearing | appearing of the glory | Glorious appearing | glorious appearing |
Mark 13:6 | saying, "I am Christ" | saying, "I am he" | Claiming, "I am he" | saying, "I am he" |
Luke 11:2b | Thy will be done as in heaven, so on earth | Omitted | omitted (footnote) | Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. |
II Thessalonians 2:3-12 foretells that many will fall away from or deny the true faith, "the truth" (v. 10) that God became man in Jesus Christ. They will worship a counterfeit Christ who is Satan incarnate, while under a strong delusion that mankind is being transformed into gods. New version terms "rebellion," "lawlessness" and "destruction" may be applied to those who oppose this antichrist system.
there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition | the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction | therebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction | unless the falling away comes first and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition. |
Jesus gives his disciples instructions to "watch and pray," as He did Peter, "that ye enter not into temptation." Those who do not heed this warning will fall away and will be not counted worthy to escape the judgment that is coming upon all those who dwell on the earth.
Mark 13:33 | watch and pray | keep on the alert | be on guard, be alert | watch and pray |
Luke 21:36 | pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things | praying in order that you may have strength to escape all these things | pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen | pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things |
The spirit of antichrist does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, but believes that Christ comes as the "universal consciousness" of the divine spirit within each person. The Antichrist exalts himself above God and will exterminate many through an artifice of "peacemaking," be a practitioner of witchcraft or "the Craft" (Freemasonry) and will worship "the force" of pagan religions.
I John 4:3 | And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist | and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; and this is the spirit of antichrist | but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist | and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the antichrist |
Daniel 8:25 | he shall cause craft to prosper...and by peace shall destroy many | He will cause deceit to succeed by his influence . . . destroy many while they are at ease | He will cause deceit to prosper... When they feel secure, he will destroy many | he shall cause deceit to prosper...he shall destroy many in their prosperity |
Daniel 11:38 | shall he honour the God of forces | he will honor a god of fortresses | he will honor a god of fortresses | he shall honor a god of fortresses |
The NASB and NIV do not clearly differentiate between the mark, the name and the number of the Beast. Please refer to the Watch Unto Prayer report on The Six-Pointed Star: The Mark of the Beast for evidence that the Beast is the Assyrian-Babylonian god, Saturn, whom the apostate Israelites worshipped as the Star of Remphan (Acts 7:37-43).
Revelation 13:17 | the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name | the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name | the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name | the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name |
God will seal His servants’ foreheads during the Tribulation. New versions add "his name and" to this prophecy, leading the unwary to take the name of the beast or antichrist before receiving the Lamb’s Father’s name. All who take "his name" are condemned. (14:9,10)
Revelation 14:1 | His father’s name written in their foreheads | His name and his father’s name written on their foreheads | His name and his father’s name written on their foreheads | His father’s name written on their foreheads |
Mystery Babylon is both a city and a religious system. New versions change the punctuation of Revelation 17:9,10 to confuse the identity of the “city of seven hills,” which is Rome. Revelation 14:8 and 17:18 are references to “that” great city mentioned in 17:9. In 17:5, the NASB transfers the key word “Mystery” from the literal name on her forehead to a descriptive phrase declaring the name “a mystery,” or knowledge not revealed to man. This changes the interpretation by removing its association with the mystery religion of ancient Babylon from which Roman Catholicism derives.1-800-435-4535 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 1-800-435-4535 end_of_the_skype_highlighting)
