I'm not convinced that Mr. Graham is a false prophet.
ReplyDeleteTo pluck a quote here and a quote there and then draw a conclusion makes me uneasy. For example, when he said something like, "people from Buddhism and Islam are coming to God" and to then end it there CAN be very misleading.
He may have gone on to say that they left Buddhism and Islam. Look at Rev. 7:9. Our response to God's drawing (John 6:44) has to begin somewhere. In fact for all of us it begins while we are still separated from Him by sin. People are judged, not by the light that you and I have been given but by the response they have made to the light that THEY have been given.
God's grace is open to everyone.
His invitation is given to everyone.
His sacrifice has been made for everyone.
Yes only a few will respond. Yes the WAY is narrow but the invitation is as broad as the world is wide. Of course there are false prophets. I'm just not convinced Mr. Graham is one of them.
As to Bill Clinton? Again, to say that people have to sound and act like I sound and act or they aren't a Christian is a dangerous, dangerous road to take. We don't know how we would have responded had we been confronted with the temptations that he was exposed to. If people were made privy to your secret thoughts and behaviours, might they wonder about the state of your salvation? I've been a Christian for 30 years now. Some of the ways I responded to situations at year 15, or 20, or 25 are not how I would respond now that I'm more mature in my faith. How do we know where Mr. Clinton was at then compared to earlier or compared to now? Certainly we must be discerning, but "If you think you stand, be careful lest you fall." 1st Cor. 10:12
