Katarina Dumančić: the sheer reincarnation of Édith Piaf

.
Once in a very blue moon, a prodigy appears!  When such prodigy is devoid of pretense and as pure and simple as this little 11-year-old girl, it is utterly disarming!

I am so taken by this reincarnation of Edith Piaf, that I am certain, were she to be alive, she would have to pinch herself to be sure!  WOW!  This little unpretentious precious little thing has Edith Piaf down pat, even the unsteady vibration in her voice, at times!

In viewing this video from the "I HAVE TALENT" program in Serbia, one will see how when the judge is told what she is to sing, he is a bit puzzled, for it seems, he knows the song's difficulty!  Then you see the one to the extreme right just marvel at how she carries herself!

The song this incredibly brave, as well as incredibly talented, girl chose to sing, is incredibly difficult!  For one, this is a Serbian girl, who speaks Serbian, which uses the Latin and the Cyrillic alphabet, both of which I am sure she knows!!  That she should have mastered a language, such as French, in a Latin alphabet, is simply phenomenal!  That, on top of it all, SHE MEMORIZED THE LYRICS, is simply out of this world!  I wonder if even Edith Piaf had gotten to memorize it, herself!

I choke up in viewing her, every time!  I truly pray she loses not her simplicity, and grows to be able to make a decent living for herself!  It doesn't seem she comes from any well-to-do people!  I will do my best to find out more about her!

Here is the prodigy!  It must be noted, that Edith Piaf came from a lower class, in which the French was quite poorly spoken!  This girl manages to mimic even this!!  She claims, and proves it, that she loves French music, and much admires Edith Piaf!  So do I!

Padam...padam...padam...
Il arrive en courant derrière moi
Padam...padam...padam...
Il me fait le coup du souviens-toi
Padam...padam...padam...

Mes vingt ans font battre tambour
Je vois s'entrebattre des gestes
Toute la comédie des amours
Sur cet air qui va toujours

Padam...padam...padam...
Des "je t'aime" de quatorze-juillet
Padam...padam...padam...
Des "toujours" qu'on achète au rabais
Padam...padam...padam...
Des "veux-tu" en voilà par paquets
Et tout ça pour tomber juste au coin d'la rue
Sur l'air qui m'a reconnue
...
Écoutez le chahut qu'il me fait
...
Comme si tout mon passé défilait
...
Faut garder du chagrin pour après
J'en ai tout un solfège sur cet air qui bat...
Qui bat comme un cœur de bois...

Sadly, very sadly, in the USA there never seems to have been an interest in any foreign music!  This does not happen most anywhere else!  Throughout the world, excepting in the USA, Edith Piaf is well known!  I, praise God, grew up in Brazil, where I heard music in several languages, music that has accompanied me throughout my life, and much comforted me.  Today, my computer has over 3,000 songs in about some 18 languages that play, randomly, throughout the day!

When first arriving in the USA, back in January 14, 1968, what I found most disconcerting, and missed the most, were the sounds around me, the sound of beautiful music in various tongues!  I still remember the desolate feeling I had in realizing this, the heavy, oppressive and deafening sound of silence!
