What is God Doing in Poland? - Missionary or Mercenary? by Pastor Thomas Cassidy

.
Back in November, I listened to the video here presented, which has been weighing on my mind, ever since!  Actually, it is the hearing of other missionaries, one traveling from Alaska to come to Florida for some minor treatment, (when it is she was from Michigan!), another dropping dead in a hotel in Hong Kong, that have aggravated my resolve to bring this to the fore.

At the end of this video we hear someone say "... that was a blessing!"

What was a blessing?!  The relating of yearly visits home from Poland, which last quite long from the looks of it?  Their trip from Pensacola to Michigan in the car they bought for that specific purpose?  Their ability to come see his mother?

WHAT WAS A BLESSING TO HEAR?  Not a word was said as to who is left back in Poland tending the "store," so to speak, nor anything said as to WHAT they have accomplished in Poland, for the many years they seem to have there been as "missionaries!"

One would think that the FIRST thing out of these people's mouth would have been to speak of churches they have planted, preachers they have equipped with the word of God to go on and preach on their own!  No!  None of this seems to be relevant in this their "reporting" to the churches that sponsor their livelihoods abroad, year in and year out!  And this is what these seem to be, no more than hirelings!  And for this they are a "blessing?"

Someone, annoyed at my criticizing the last two "missionaries" asked me "Would you be a missionary?"  You bet, I would!  And, I can assure any, there would be fruit to be seen, to the glory of God!

Having met a professional moochionary in Matthew Furan, back in 2010, right here in Niagara Falls, NY, who never spoke of having planted any churches and simply up and left Sri Lanka to "come home" two years earlier, lying so as to be excused by whomever the fools be who there sent him (a relationship he never really broke off, for he continued to be listed as a missionary, contemplating going back, some time, no doubt, as he has now done since last Summer,  traipsing up and down the country looking for fools to support his next endeavor, having quit Calvary Baptist of Niagara!), I can view with no more than suspicion (and disgust!) any such who seem to profit on the backs of fools back home, who feel compelled to support them!  It is a big business, a real racket, indeed!  So much so, Matthew Furan is back at it, in Sri Lanka, living in a big mansion, with servants at his beck and call!

The one thing I liked about the article by Pastor Thomas Cassidy is the verification that we need not send any "missionaries" around the world!  There are plenty of local pastors who are quite capable of shouldering the mission themselves!

11 I am the good shepherd:
the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd,
whose own the sheep are not,
seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth:
and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling,
and careth not for the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep,
and am known of mine.
15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father:
and I lay down my life for the sheep.

Missionary or Mercenary?
by Pastor Thomas Cassidy

I am an Independent Baptist. I am not affiliated with any denomination, convention, association, fellowship, or group. That, to me, is the meaning of the word "independent."

I believe, according to the example of Acts chapter 13, that the local, New Testament, Baptist church is solely responsible for the training, ordaining, sending, and supervising of missionaries. I do not believe any of that responsibility can be "farmed out" to a mission board or agency. We don't "farm out" those whom we have seen saved in our churches to other churches to be baptized, or to be taught, why should we do so for the sending and supervision of our missionaries?

Missions are a function of the local church. To allow any organization other than the local church to perform any of the functions that God has assigned to the church is to step outside of the bounds of the Biblical pattern.

I am about to make myself one of the most unpopular men in America. My 'sin' will be to tell the truth. The truth often hurts. It attacks our pre-conceived ideas about ourselves, our friends, our fellow servants, our very ministries.

I just returned from a missions survey trip to the Philippines. I spent about 3 weeks looking at the ongoing works in Metro-Manila, as well as out in some of the provinces. I found many good and Godly Filipino Pastors doing a great work for the Lord. I saw churches being planted, nurtured, growing, training men for more church planting. What a great blessing to be in some of those new churches and see the excitement of those pastors as they served Him.

My host was a 37 year old Filipino pastor that started a church 16 years ago. That church has since started fourteen new 'daughter' churches in the Philippines as well as thirty-six new churches on the foreign (to them) field. The fourteen 'daughter' churches have started twenty-four 'grand-daughter' churches. Out of one man's vision of what God can do there are now seventy-five independent Bible believing Baptist churches, working, winning souls, growing, and training men for the ministry.

While at a pastor's luncheon I made the mistake of asking the local pastors about the American missionaries in the Philippines. There are about 75 American missionaries in the Philippines, representing 5 mission agencies and numerous local churches. As I asked the question, a hush fell in the room, and the Filipino pastors looked at one another, looked down, and did not answer me. The host pastor, trying to be very gracious to his American guest, stepped into the void and said, "Only time and eternity will tell." That was not the answer I was looking for. I asked the host pastor to give me his honest assessment of the Americans he knew that were in the Philippines. He hesitated again, then asked if I really wanted an answer. I replied that I did. He cleared his throat and told me the American missionaries in the Philippines fall into six categories:

1. The true Missionary: Doing the job God called him to do, preaching the gospel, winning souls for Christ, planting New Testament Baptist churches, training indigenous men to pastor the churches being planted. This group is the smallest minority of those Americans present in the Philippines at this time.

2. The Stationary: Came to the Philippines some time ago, started a church, hunkered down and has been pastoring that little flock ever since, never leading the church to be self- supporting, cashing his missions check each month, and is effectively retired-in-place. This is what the Filipinos call 'welfare missions'; supported by the rich Americans because 'everyone knows those poor stupid Filipino's can't support a pastor, they can hardly feed themselves.'

3. The Vacationary: Can be identified by the camera around his neck, and the tour bus ticket stubs sticking out of his pocket. He is having such a great time touring the beautiful country he has little time for church planting and soul winning. However, to salve his conscience he makes it a point to give every tour bus driver a copy of the tract "God's Simple Plan of Salvation." Of course all of the money for his travel comes from his faithful supporters back home.

4. The Businessionary: Is the man that is in the import/export business with his brother-in-law back in the states and does not have the time to plant churches or train men for the ministry. He usually just gives $50 or so to a local pastor and claims that man's work as his own. He makes a lot of money, but continues to receive support from the churches in the states, which is often invested in his business rather than the Lord's work.

5. The Mercenary: Is for sale to the highest bidder. He may be offered a job managing a resort or other business (American's are very popular in the Philippines and can open a lot of business doors for those for whom they work). He holds a 'Bible study' semi-regularly at the resort or business, which is the spiritual equivalent of the object lesson in junior church last week, and continues to receive support money from the states.

6. The Mission-hari: Hari is the Tagalog word for 'King'. He has raised 3 or 4 thousand dollars a month support money, comes to the field and rents or buys a big house, hires cooks and maids for his wife, and a gardener and sometimes even a driver for himself, goes out to some of the small indigenous works in the area and has his picture taken in front of the church buildings with his arm around the local pastors, gives the pastors $50 a month of his support and sends the pictures back to the states telling the supporting churches what a great job he is doing working with the local people, being a real help to them. All the while living in his 'palace', swimming in his pool, being waited on by the maid, watching the driver wash his car, and looking out over the little 'kingdom' he has built for himself. Saying 'Isn't God good.'

If you are a pastor, and you have sent a missionary from your church to the foreign field, I have some friendly advice for you. Get off your duff, beg, borrow, or steal enough money to get a plane ticket and go to the field and see just how that missionary is living, and what EXACTLY he is doing! Do not tell him you are coming, just drop in! If he is not all that he should be, take him home with you! Tell the supporting churches to send their missions money somewhere where it will be used as the giving churches intended it to be!

If you are a lay person in a church that supports missions, check up on where your missions money is going and what it is being used for. Write some of the indigenous pastors and get the real story. Go to the field yourself if you can. Get a first hand look at the work being done. It may surprise you what is going on. It did me!

We have literally dozens of good men seeking missions support to go to the foreign field to do a work for the Lord who can't get support because it is being sent to the types of 'missionaries' in 2 through 6 above. This, brethren, ought not to be. We, the pastors and lay persons that are paying the bills must begin to hold the missionaries accountable for the money sent and the work being done. In the past many of us have abdicated our pastoral responsibilities to 'mission boards' that have failed. Two well known mission boards have just bought more land and built new buildings in the states worth millions of dollars. Why? We don't need buildings and land here, the people on the foreign field need church buildings and land there. Sell the buildings and land here and send the money where it will do some good! And make sure it goes to the kind of missionary in example number one above. It is our responsibility before a holy God.

Think about it.

Upon learning that notifications regarding new posts being added, are not being gotten by those who follow my blog by email, I questioned Blogger, which has promptly responded.

It seems, my posts are much too "long," thus heavy, well over the limit that the burner feed is able to load.

Thus, I shall be removing this feature, so that, whoever wishes to see new posts, will have to visit the Blog, itself.  I am sorry!  I know this was a feature some liked.  But, know that there will always be new posts to view!  I am looking forward to your visits!

FIRST JESUIT POPE TAKES CONTROL OF THE VATICAN

With three failed attempts already behind them and under the so-called 'guidance' of the Holy Spirit, these 'princes' of the Catholic church still couldn't agree as to who they wanted to replace Benedict XVI.

At first it looked as though the fourth vote would fail again, for the smoke appeared rather grey, but with an explosion of bells ringing from St. Peter's Square, and with the secular press sounding surprisingly excited, it appeared that in just under 24 hours, Rome's 115 cardinals now had their new man.

My feeling had been, prior to the voting commencing that Peter Turkson, the man from Africa, might get it, with Patrick leaning more towards an Italian, possibly Angelo Scola, the archbishop of Milan, inheriting the so-called 'chair of Peter.' (Incidently, the London Guardian, reported on March 12, how 'anti-mafia police raided offices in his diocese,' so that certainly would not have been the best start for those hoping that the man from Milan could or would attempt to reform the Catholic church, for such naivety dogged John Paul I, who lasted just 33 days in the Vatican. In fact, to suggest it is even possible to 'clean house' is most certainly delusional thinking.

And so it was at 7:7pm, Rome time, the Catholic world finally got to see their next 'Shepherd in chief,' the 76-year-old, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, from Argentina, and may I say that at first I thought it was a joke. A little man appeared on the famous Vatican balcony, looking like a retired banker, and then he gave a rather motionless wave, resembling something like the Queen of England gives, and then over the next several minutes, he rambled on and spoke about how his church 'is above all churches' and how they (all Catholics) must now work together for 'world peace.' (This is the usual politically correct and non-offensive message that popes and apostates now proclaim.)

Bergoglio who also resembles a cross between Pius XII and John XXIII must have been something of a damp squib to all those young, zealous and extreme Catholic fundamentalists around the world, who had hoped to get someone much younger and charismatic.

For me, I felt so relieved to no longer be a part of this system.

As he stood on the balcony, flanked by his fellow cardinals and bishops, he recited the Lord's Prayer (or as it should be called the Disciples Prayer) and then off he went into the blasphemous and pointless Hail Mary. All these so-called 'brains' and yet the simplicity of Christ is totally lost on them.

The truth of the matter is whoever had appeared on that famous balcony, whether it be the Pink Panther, Kermit the Frog or Top Cat, the rapturous response from St. Peter's Square, would have been the same-deafening and repeated chanting, which is prophetically found in Scripture, where the pagans chant their allegiance to their female god, Diana (Acts 19:34.)

Pope Francis I, as he will now be called, claims to be 'the vicar of Christ' and yet while the world watched him, he didn't once call on anyone to repent and be born again. All he offered his audience was a typical safe and placid message, which couldn't even inspire a bunch of sleepy orangutans.

So does the voting in of a new pope have any Scriptural support? In short, no! But I need to highlight a few fatal flaws from those that would suggest otherwise. First of all, Acts 1 is normally cited as 'evidence' of a precedent, when the early church met to replace Judas Iscariot. However, if the lazy Catholic or apostate had bothered to read Acts 1, they would have quickly realized that the Apostles were not voting in a new leader, they were voting in a replacement to come along side them, and work with them as they preached the Gospel. Matthias, who they unanimously chose to replace Judas, via the casting of lots, was a disciple and eyewitness of Jesus' ministry (probably one of the 70), and therefore he was qualified to join them.

Today, as there are no apostles or prophets, it would be impossible to re-enact Acts 1.

In Acts 12, when James the son of Zebedee was martyred, no church council met to replace him. To those that suggest this was somehow down to the church being dispersed and unable to gather to replace him, would not Acts 15, therefore, have been an ideal opportunity to replace him? But when we read Acts 15, with all the church leaders present, there is no vote to replace James. In fact, James, the son of Zebedee isn't even mentioned.

So what we find in Acts 1 was never repeated again and with the Holy Spirit deliberately omitting any mention of the deaths of Peter, Paul and John, this once again demonstrates why it is paramount to make the Bible ones final authority and not to venture off into some man made pagan system of dead rituals and useless traditions.

In the days that have followed Bergoglio's 'anointing' the world appears to applaud him, with the print press seemingly giving him the thumbs up. The verse that speaks about the world loving its own, comes to mind (John 15:19.)

As a Jesuit he will certainly change the dynamics of the Vatican. But for now, and in the short term at least, I expect very little to come from him and his cohorts. One thing I do believe we will see from him will be an accelerated promotion of closer ties between Rome and Islam, now known as Chrislam. Israel, unfortunately, will of course be the immediate victim here. But when push comes to shove, he and his church will always side with Islam over Judaism.

It was also interesting to read a well known Jewish website which stated how, "Bergoglio attended Rosh Hashanah services at the Benei Tikva Slijot synagogue in September 2007."

It seems the man from Argentina charmed his Jewish audience to no ends and forged warm ecumenical links with them and no doubt others too. Where is the call to repent and believe the gospel, however? When was the last time any Catholic cleric, anywhere in the world, ever proclaimed that Christ is the only way to be saved (John 14:6?)

The true Ambassador of Christ will always be polite and courteous to those of other faiths, when going about their everyday life, but he/she will never do so at the expense of the gospel and they certainly would not attend obsolete feasts that dishonour the Lord Jesus and His finished work on the cross. Sadly, the evil and ever popular ecumenical movement has totally betrayed Christ and His finished work on the cross, in favour of forming a one-world religion, that one day will easily and finally be handed over to the Antichrist.

Also with the selection of the first Latin American pope, we shall see an even greater push of liberation theology and a reinforced presentation of socialism and other humanistic interests.

While I could not bear to bring myself to watch any of his heretical 'inaugurational' mass, which the BBC shamefully broadcasted live to the world, on two channels simultaneously, I did manage to see a clip of Francis getting out of his official car, with bodyguards in tow, and 'blessing' this waiting man in the crowd, on the evening news.

No doubt his Vatican spin-doctors hoped it would make for a nice photo shoot, not to mention somewhat exploiting this poor man, but I must ask the following question: Why didn't the so-called 'successor' to St. Peter and the 'infallible' 'vicar of Christ' heal him? Didn't Peter do many open-air healings? So why can't this pope or any pope do the same?

Isn't it obvious by now that he and all the other so-called 'vicars of Christ,' a role if it ever existed, could only be retained by the Holy Spirit, aren't anything of the kind but just conniving impostors, deceiving the masses of ignorant people, the world over.

Please allow me to include two photographs that were taken over the Easter weekend, that once again demonstrates the wonderful theatre that makes the church of Rome so 'unique.'

It appears that members of the tiny sect of Pre Vatican II Catholics, the ones that would love to see the return of the old archaic Tridentine Mass, have been furiously tweeting how bitterly disappointed they were to see Francis not only washing and kissing prisoners feet, but how he went on to do the same to some women, with one being a Muslim and another having HIV. They are now 'concerned' about the possibility of him one day 'ordaining' female priests too.

Without wishing to sound like a parrot, why doesn't he just preach the true Gospel to his audience. To allow cameras to see you prostrate on your face is surely Pharisaical. Nevermind washing the feet of unsaved people, something not found in Scripture, why not just stop with all these gimmicks and give God the glory by telling the world how Jesus has paid for their sins and should they repent, and believe on Him, He will save them instantaneously. To do anything else, will see sinners go to Hell, forever!

Instead we see him mimicking Ghandi, with his 'good works and deeds' by trying to make their lives a little better, when he should be expounding the new birth to them. Sadly this is something no pope has ever understood or preached, so one needs to look to the true Shepherd for salvation, not a man who thinks he is 'holy' by dressing in white, while tragically being just as lost as those whose feet he washed.

So before I conclude this brief appraisal of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, I must share the following secret oath, that all Jesuits take, something that the secular press to the best of my knowledge have never printed, let alone even referred too:

"Go ye, then, into all the world and take possession of all lands in the name of the Pope. He who will not accept him as the Vicar of Jesus and his Vice-Regent on earth, let him be accursed and exterminated."

This is only a very small fragment of their oath and so I would most certainly encourage further research of this, by looking online. But the above text makes it very clear how the Jesuit(s) is bound to posses all lands and those that won't accept the pope (note, they don't say believe on Jesus or receive Him as ones Saviour) must be accursed, meaning excommunicated from the Catholic church, which historically meant, going to Hell when one dies, and for the non-Catholic that refused to submit to the pope, extermination was called for.

This chilling oath, in some ways mirrors freemasonry and their cold-blooded oaths too. In fact, one wonders which came first, Catholic masonry or Protestant masonry. Either way, both are not of God and in fact, masonry in any form is anti-Jesus!

Also of interest, is the unhealthy and banal obsession that masons have with the number 33. There are 33 levels in their Luciferian structure. For the Jesuit to be allowed to take his oath, he must be 33-years-old. No doubt, when examined on this, he would suggest that it has to do with the Lord Jesus Christ's death, being when He was 33-years-old, but once again, unless Scripture explicitly affirms such a custom, it is best to avoid it at all costs.

Is it any wonder, therefore how France, Spain and Portugal (all Catholic countries) expelled the Jesuits from their shores, only for them to covertly sneak back in, like a pack of unwanted feral dogs.
In fact, it must be stated that the Jesuits, on more than one occasion, have also been banned by various popes, with pope Clement XIII refusing them entry into Italy, while Clement XIV enjoyed suppressing them.
And yet Pius V set up a covert school in France, which allowed the Jesuits to be trained on how to infiltrate and take over the Church of England. This shrewd operation was concluded by 1884, by which time Canterbury had already fallen.

To those that naively think the Catholic church (or as it really should be called, 'the church of Constantine') resembles anything remotely authentic to the things of God, should refrain from making further ignorant statements, get on their knees, and seek the Lord's forgiveness and new birth. I should know, for I did this myself 11 years ago and I have never looked back since.

JAMES' INTERVIEW ON THE POPE AND ROMAN CATHOLICISM

My good friend Mark in the US wanted to know what my thoughts were on the pope and the Vatican in general. Here is the interview.

PATRICK'S STREET REPORT

Recently when giving out some of James' testimony tracts, this gentleman stopped, paused and accepted one, always a good sign.

This man informed me, almost apologetically, that he had been a committed member of the Jehovah's Witnesses cult for over 40 years, but thankfully he had deserted those teachings and now despised them for what he had been a part of for all of those lost years.

His problem soon became clear when he informed me that he now believed in nothing at all, and that death when it arrived, was the final end of everything. I asked him don't you find this depressing and he agreed with me. But this seems to be the normal journey that so many others like him, who for whatever reason, quickly leave a religious system then lapse in to nothing, and instead of rejoicing that they have thrown off the shackles of organised religion, they now survive in a spiritual void.

On a personal level in his own case it seems most of his family are still peddling the watchtower message and have badly ostracized him over his decision to leave. It must be very painful for him and others who have been brave enough to take this personal decision, and I sympathise with him in this family matter, that he will have to bear.

However, I did not find him hostile to what I was saying and he did seem to be listening to me carefully, even nodding his head in agreement with me, especially when we talked about the present state of the world and the gradual slide into immorality this country is experiencing, which he found shocking and disgusting. And on this matter we both agreed.

Finally, I did say that I would pray for him and that I hoped this curse of atheism would soon depart from him and that he would walk with the Lord in a new relationship. He then thanked me and went his way. I do hope I see him again when we are next on the streets for an update but this is unlikely as we rarely see the same people twice. But of course he is just another lost and confused soul existing in this fallen world, and this is why street work is so important and beneficial to those who will not hear the true message of the Bible in most mainline churches.

Earlier on a young girl came up to me and asked what I was doing and what was I giving out. I informed her that these were Bible tracts and this was a simple way to get a short Christian message out to the lost of this world.

I rather teased her remarking that she looked too young to be doing a job of signing up people to support a national charity. With that she pulled out her passport and proudly showed it to me, confirming that she was ten years older than she looked. This was a surprise and amazingly the passport was well worn with heavy usage, as she has had to do this rather more frequently in the past, she proudly informed me.

But more importantly she stayed and listened to what I had to tell her before going off to look for new customers. Happily she took one of our postcard/Bible tracts and I hope she remembers what I told her.

Hello Brother, I've been studying w/you thru The Book of Hebrews. 1st off thank you, it is one of the best studies I've heard on Hebrews. I did a chp & ver study years ago thru Hebrews every Sunday, it took one year. But I'm the better for it. I believe it to be one of the most important books of the NT. May I ask do you have an outline of that teaching of Hebrews? I would love to refer to it. Thanks again for your ministry. May The Lord Jesus Christ bless you & yours.

James and Patrick, I have written you many times in the past, BUT this time I want to TY for your non-ceasing work of Evangelizing! The hardest people to reach is the Roman Catholic/Goats or Tares....but I can say, "I will NEVER enter HER doors again!" She is Babylon and she WILL FALL! It really won't effect our Salvation, who we think the Antichrist is or where he comes from.... as long as we Believe in Christ!  Woe, to the False Religions 1 John 2:22...they better Repent and Believe for Christ is coming! This was your BEST Newsletter Ever....much has happened! Keep on praying and looking up...Christ is Coming! Maranatha. Men of God!

I cannot tell you how comforted I have felt listening to your excellent shall I say sermons…..Thank you for your ministry-God richly bless you and your boldness for Him. You are a brilliant reflection of His glory in a dark, dark world.

Just to let you know that I'm studying with you right now on Genesis. About and hour into it already. My wife had bought me a (KJV) note takers bible from 'local church bible publishers' for Father's Day. And I want to make it into a study Bible "kinda of sort of for my kids and their kids, when we are long gone, and they can see with sound teaching. But with your permission only to take your great teachings and place them in my notes. I will give you the credit for the work. That they will know what you and your father's ministry is, and of course who you are. Not to blow your head up, but you are a special guy that has a gift of teaching. I thought John Macarthur was good when I was a babe in Christ:) But thank you your a blessing and help always James, may the Almighty bless you and your father.

I have watched a couple of your videos and see your humble spirit. You speak out about things that other people are afraid to talk about. And you only hope to save souls. You have helped me to see good. I am ashamed of my bitter heart towards others and I have all but given up, till you. Thank you.

I just stumbled across your website a few days ago. It's been totally liberating. After I saw your YouTube video on the Study of Galatians Verse-by-Verse, I realized I was living according the Old Covenant. I was what you called under the law. Do you have a particular message that explains the New Covenant? I would like to learn all about the New Covenant that Jesus came to implement. Thanks!

Thanks again for your hard work & ministry for the Lord & for His glory ~ I followed again listening to your commentary on 1 Thessalonians & will review them BOTH again as they are very detailed & encouraging ~ I was listening only ~ so this next time I plan to follow along with scripture in hand ~ Blessings to you both. Both commentaries are helping me to be grounded in the PRE-TRIB Rapture doctrine that seems to be one of your strong-suits & somehow had gone over my head? So do be encouraged as to its IMPORTANCE in your WORK! = )
