Another King James Bible Believer: Will Kinney's personal testimony
Another King James Bible believer’s Defense of the King James Bible.
A Short Testimony
Greetings to all in the precious and wonderful name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I have not always been a Christian nor have I always been a King James Bible onlyist.
I was brought up in a nominally Christian home but my parents rarely if ever went to church. I was an agnostic/atheist until my early 20’s when the Hippy Movement broke out in the late 1960’s. I, along with many others of my generation, Turned On, Tuned In and Dropped Out. Through the use of psychedelic drugs I began to investigate and practice Eastern Religions for several years and lived in a hippy commune.
I began to piece together my own brand of eclectic Religion and thought that I was quite “spiritual”, but I was a lost sinner on my way to judgment and hell. Someone compared me to a duck on the water. I looked calm on the surface, but underneath my legs were churning as fast as they could go. I did not have my act together and underneath I knew that I was a mess and had no clue about the Truth of God.
While hitching around the country I came to a “Jesus house” of young, ex-hippie converts to Christianity. They saw me doing my Yoga and swinging a pendulum over my food to “check out the cosmic vibes”.
One brother pulled me aside and opened his Bible. Much of what he said was lost on me, but one verse he read hit me in the forehead like a brick. The passage he read from, before he asked me to leave, was found in 2 Timothy 3:1-7. “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves...Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof...EVER LEARNING, AND NEVER ABLE TO COME TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH.”
God began to work on me more directly after that and through reading more of the New Testament I eventually realized that I either had to reject the claims of the Lord Jesus and continue to piece together my own form of religion, or else reject all other forms of spirituality and believe that Christ alone was the only way of salvation and the only Truth.
By the sovereign grace and mercy of God He gave me the faith and repentance to believe that Jesus Christ is indeed exactly who He said He was - The Way, the Truth and the Life, and that no man can come to the Father except through Him.
For many years I was not a King James Bible onlyist. It wasn’t till all the newer versions like the NASB and NIV began to be popularly accepted and used that I began to study the issues more in depth. Did the Bible mean what it says about the purity and truth of God’s word? Was “the Bible” indeed the perfect and 100% true words of God, or not?
I began to read several books on the Bible version issue and studied and prayed a lot about it. Over time God began to open my eyes to see that either the King James Bible was the true words of God and all other versions were but poor imitations, or else God did not really mean what He says in the Bible about “Thy word is truth” and “the Scripture cannot be broken”. (John 17:17; 10:35)
Through years of Bible study and discussing this most vital issue with many other Christians, my conviction regarding the absolute truth and authority of the Authorized King James Bible has only strengthened.
It is my hope that God may use some of these Bible studies to open the eyes and confirm the faith of those who can say like David - “I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.”
Through the grace and mercy of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ, Accepted in the Beloved,
