Christmas Message: The True Timing of the Birth of the LORD by Pastor David Picos, of The Lion and Lamb Ministry.

Here is our Christmas Message to all of you. The True Timing of the Birth of the LORD.

First let's turn to and read Micah 4:8 , and then Micah 5:2 , here's what it says "And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem" Now, Micah 5:2 "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting" Now turn to Matthew 2:4-6 and let's read what the Magi said to Herod. Here's what it says "And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet Micah, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel."

To Read The Birth of the LORD Jesus Christ. Go to Luke 2:1-14
Let's now turn our focus to THE PROCLAMATION OF CAESAR AUGUSTUS - Luke 2:1-5"that all the world should be taxed"

Augustus ruled from 43 BC to 14 AD. Augustus is Octavian, grandnephew of Julius Caesar. Now, Quirinius was "governing" under the governor Varus of Syria at the time of the census mentioned in the Bible, probably around 7 BC as seen in Luke 2:2
Josephus refers to a census in 6 AD when Quirinius was the governor, Egyptian records state that a census was done by Rome every 14 years, and took several years to accomplish.

Herod the Great was alive at the birth of the Messiah. The problem of the timing of Herod the Great's death is related to a remark by Flavius Josephus. Josephus recorded an eclipse on March 13, 4BC which he said was "shortly before Herod died." However, the actual date of the eclipse was December 29, 1 BC. And then time between the birth of the Messiah and Herod's death is necessary since Joseph and Mary with the baby Jesus Christ fled to Egypt and did not return until after Herod's death, due to the massacre of the children at Herod's orders. Herod the Great died on January 14, 1 BC.

Tertullian said that the birth of Jesus Christ was 41 years after Augustus began his rule, and died 15 years after the birth. The death of Augustus was August 19, 14 AD. Tertullian also said that Jesus Christ was born 28 years after the death of Cleopatra who died in 30 BC.

Irenaeus ALSO said that Jesus was born in the 41st year of the reign of Augustus. Eusebius says the same thing. The 42nd year of Augustus ran from the autumn of 2 BC to the autumn of 1 BC.

The LORD Jesus Christ, The Messiah, was most likely born on September 29, 2 BC.

When the temple was destroyed by Titus on August 5, 70 AD, the first course of priests had just taken office, there are 24 courses or divisions for the Jewish Priests. The course of Abijah, John the Baptist's father, Zacharias, was the 8th course. SO, tracing back, Zacharias would have ended his duties on July 13, 3 BC. The birth of John the Baptist would be 280 days later, April 19-20, 2BC, which was Passover that year, The birth of Jesus would have been six months later, in the fall of 2 BC. The VERY INTERESTING fact of this date is that it is Tishri 1 on the Jewish calendar, Rosh Hashanah, The Feast of Trumpets. Here's the breakdown...

At this time we find THE SHEPHERDS WITH THEIR FLOCKS IN THE FIELDS-as we read in Luke 2:8 . It is highly unlikely that shepherds would have their flocks in the fields during the cold winter weather.

Then we have the:
The PRESENTATION BY THE ANGEL TO THE SHEPHERDS, we read this in Luke 2:9-12 .
The DISPLAY of God's glory – Luke 2:9
The DESCRIPTION of the good tidings – Luke 2:10 - "great all people",
The DESIGNATION of the place – Luke 2:11-12 - "in the city of David" and "in a manger",
The DETAILS of the baby's identity – Luke 2:11 - "a Savior, which is Christ the Lord", and then
THE PRAISE OF THE HEAVENLY HOST – Luke 2:13-14 - HERE, The construction of the Greek text is crucial to what is being said: In the highest (heaven) – "Glory to God"...then...On earth – "peace, good will (toward men)" This last phrase needs to be translated correctly - "among men with whom He is pleased"

1. It refers to the Messiah Himself - Isaiah 9:6 - "the Prince of PEACE"
2. It refers to the Messiah's death - Colossians 1:20 - "having made PEACE through the blood of His cross"
3. It refers to the PEACE we have with God when we become believers in the Person and work of the Messiah - Romans 5:1 - "Therefore being justified by faith, we have PEACE with God through our LORD Jesus Christ"
4. It refers to the PEACE which believers have when we pray with thanksgiving and leave matters in the hands of the LORD - Philippians 4:6-7 - "the PEACE of God"
5. It refers to the PEACE of Messiah's kingdom - Isaiah 9:7 - "Of the increase of His government and PEACE there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom"
Praise the LORD!

In Ephesians 1:13 the Holy Spirit through the Apostle Paul declares that men are saved and sealed by hearing and BELIEVING the Word of Truth, the Gospel of your Salvation. Therefore, here, now, is declared unto you the Word of Truth, the Gospel of your Salvation: "that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 . BELIEVE today. The time is short.

So There You Have it!
Spread this message to everyone you know, far and wide.
Grace be to you and peace, from God: our Father, and The LORD Jesus Christ.

Removal of "The Daily Spurgeon" widget from this blog.

I had posted the following on my Facebook page, just a couple of days ago.  It is quite self-explanatory.  I care not to share his ignorance here, anymore!  I much regret having done so, for so long!  The "likes" and "shares" to be well over a thousand by now, I have no doubt!

The more quotes by Charles Spurgeon I see posted on Facebook, the more revolted I am by the man, who just couldn't keep his trap shut, it seems, so in love was he with his own wisdom! Here the newest one:

Charles Spurgeon The Prince of Preachers
"Alas, I may be sinning, for even in the holiest deeds we do there is still sin, but even then God is still forgiving. If indeed you are a believer in Jesus Christ the Lord is at all times forgiving you: as constant as your sin so constant is his forgiveness."

AMAZING IGNORANCE, which has 634 likes, and 225 shares, up to the time of this posting! How sad that so many so-called "Christians" know not the word of God!

Here is my comment to it:

"wow! And here I thought that ALL my sin was forgiven, past, present and FUTURE, the very instant I believed in Christ's death. Christ's forgiveness IS NOT a work in progress! IT IS FINISHED, said He! DONE!!

I have just posted this on my Facebook page, together with a link to this blog post:

  1. Just yesterday I heard a sermon given by Pastor Rodney Beaulieu, in which he related a meeting among pastors where anything and everything was to be discussed. At the end of the meeting was announced that in following meeting would be discussed Rightly Dividing the word of God!

Well, as if I needed it, I have just run into such disgraceful heretics as these pastors proved to be. Lion Lamb had been posting very good posts on the page Pre-Tribulation Rapture forum. In response to his last post, a very insolent JoAnne Dickert, in her vast ignorance, wished to know what was the purpose of his posts.

Unfortunately, by the time I had my response, his post was removed by said ignorant! In any instance, I had copied my posting of the comment, and the asinine responses I got, before exiting such a rat's nest!

2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God,
    but not according to knowledge.

3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness,
and going about to establish their own righteousness,
have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
    Romans 10:2-3 (King James Bible)
The following was posted on

  • What a pity you removed your post, Lion Lamb! I had just composed my comment in response to JoAnne Dickert. In any instance, here it is:

  • Most sadly, most pastors know not to make the difference, and wrongly teach us to look for the promises made to the Jew! Jesus came ONLY for the Jew, to save the lost house of Israel. He said so, many times.

WE WERE A MYSTERY, NEVER EVER BEFORE MENTIONED! Therefore, IT IS WRONG to try to use the gospel of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John to "fit" us! THEY DON'T!

Neither are we to be "fit" with any of the books from Hebrew to Revelation! SUCH ARE NOT FOR US! Indeed, ALL scripture is good for our edification, for reproof, etc, but, again, NOT ALL SCRIPTURE IS DIRECTED TO US!

This is for a very good reason, which the following verses explains very well:

6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect:
yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:

7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

1 Corinthians 2:6-8 (King James Bible)

That is as direct as it can be, yet, you will not hear pastors preaching it, for they are IGNORANT of it! PAUL IS OUR ONLY APOSTLE, AND NONE OTHER! Satan's defeat was Christ resurrected, which HAD TO BE KEPT SECRET!

who raised Paul to be an apostle to the Gentiles, US!!

    I pray you understand this.

  • JoAnne Dickert The poster you refer to has been under observation for quite awhile, and for good reason.
  • Helga Hickman So, he's been removed?
  • Helga Hickman What would the reason be? Your insistent blindness to the word of God?
  • Jeffrey Harbuck Helga? You seriously just said that?
  • David Smiley Grapes Praise God someone removed the posts by "Lion Lamb." They smelled of Hebrew Roots Doctrine. Had they not been challenged by one or more of the Admins., I would have left the group for sure.
  • David Smiley Grapes Praise God someone removed the posts by "Lion Lamb." They smelled of Hebrew Roots Doctrine. They preach "Another Jesus." Had they not been challenged by one or more of the Admins., I would have left the group for sure.

  • Helga Hickman Well, then David, you should have your olfactory glands checked, for it was the very OPPOSITE that he was attempting to show!

    10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth,
    being condemned of himself.
    Titus 3:10-11
By the way, I haven't the slightest idea who Gordon Cummings is, nor care to know.

Obama won’t honor Gettysburg, but I will - by Col. Allen West

The fool we have occupying the White house certainly lacks all and any social graces, among so many other shortcomings of his!

Disgraceful, to say the least! Here a president, who fought so hard against the Democrats, to free the slaves! But, the fools wearing the ebony color, know not their own history! I was amazed when viewing the movie, "Lincoln," to look around and see not a single black person in the theater!

This is an awesome speech crafted by the real national hero we have in Col. Allen West!

Thank you, Col. West, for your continued service to this country! You make us proud!

Jesus' Ministry vs. Paul's Ministry by Jim Hanratty

✞ Jesus' Ministry vs. Paul's Ministry

Controversy has arisen regarding Jesus versus Paul as scholars debate the different emphases and messages of Jesus and Paul. For example, Jesus and his apostles preached the gospel of the kingdom. Paul did not. Paul preached the gospel of the grace of God. What are we to make of this? Can the two be reconciled?

Let's be clear from the outset. The messages of
Jesus and Paul were fundamentally different. Reconciliation of their messages cannot be done by harmonization. Instead, we must seek a biblical understanding of the texts of both in order to effect a reconciliation.

Some theologians have recognized problems in this but most fail to provide biblical solutions to resolve the differences between Jesus and Paul.

Many theological professionals (pastors and professors) continue to misunderstand why we find differences between Jesus and Paul's message. Because of this, they have no foundation to reconcile the differences. Bur here’s a clue: let the reader consider why God kept Paul separated from the Twelve after his conversion and why Paul’s contact with the Twelve was extremely limited.

The Messages of Jesus and Paul

The (down below) chart identifies the chief differences in the ministries and message of Jesus and Paul. Each will be analyzed.

Jesus' Gospel

John the Baptist, Jesus, and the Twelve preached *the gospel of the kingdom* (Matthew 3.2, 4.17). This gospel was the long-anticipated and *prophesied gospel(good news) that the King of Israel had arrived. He would establish His kingdom on earth and rule the earth according to what Israel’s prophets foretold (Psalm 2.6, 8; Zechariah 14.9; Luke 1.31-33). Its focus was Jewish during this kingdom reign.

The message and ministry of John the Baptist, Jesus, and the Twelve required repentance (Mark 1.15), water baptism (Matthew 3.6; Acts 2.38, 8.34-38, 19.4), and belief that Jesus was the promised Messiah (Matthew 16.13-16; John 11.25-27).

Paul’s Gospel

Paul preached *the gospel of the grace of God* (Acts 20.24; 1 *Corinthians 15.1-4). Paul placed little emphasis on repentance or baptism in his evangelistic ministry. I believe I would not be wrong in stating that Paul only mentioned repentance in reference to unbelievers once (1) in his letters (Romans 2.4). With regard to water baptism, Paul declared, “Christ DID NOT send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel” (1 Corinthians 1.14-17). Later, he wrote that there was only one (1) baptism (Ephesian 4.5). Since Paul obviously meant that the one baptism(Spiritual-Not water) was baptism *by* the Holy Spirit, we must conclude that according to Paul, water baptism has no Scriptural support as a necessity for today.

To reconcile Jesus and Paul we must be faithful to the *text* and recognize that major differences exist between the two ministries of Jesus and Paul. Jesus and the Twelve ministered to *Jews under the Mosaic Law and preached the gospel of the kingdom.

Paul ministered to Gentiles mostly (Romans 11.13) under grace, as opposed to Law, and revealed the *mysteries the ascended Lord (not the earthly Messiah) had revealed to him. He revealed believers of his gospel, *the gospel of the grace of God* (Acts 20.24; *1 Corinthians 15.1-4; Romans 2.16, 16.25), were members of the body of Christ of which Christ was its Head, not its King. Finally, in addition to the differences noted above are the “secrets” (μυστήριον) the risen Lord revealed unto Paul alone.

The gospel of the grace of God is the gospel for today, which is he died for our sins and rose to provide us with eternal life. To be save today one *MUST* believe Jesus died to pay your sin debt, was buried and rose from the dead to give you the gift of eternal life? This is what is required to receive salvation.(1 Cor. 15: 1-4.) And of course faith is the conviction that something is true that we rely-on or trust-in and not merely intellectual understanding.

Place your faith in Jesus, his death for your sins and resurrection from the tomb to save you now!

Colossians 1:25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God. (Apostle Paul)

It never fails that it would be an Independent Baptist, such as Shane Bytheway, who would have an asinine comment to make, when this I posted to my Facebook page.  Not the first, either!  I am still awaiting his response, which I will post, when and if received:

  • Sérgio Trigo I will have to translate this to portuguese soon too.
  • Shane Bytheway Don't let Jason Cooley see this...he'll freak out! He thinks Paul was just plagiarizing Christ.
  • Helga Hickman It would take a REAL STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION, Shane Bytheway, actually, A VERITABLE LEAP, for anyone to RATIONALLY try to reconcile the gospel of the kingdom, preached by Jesus, with the gospel of the MYSTERY KEPT HIDDEN SINCE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD, NOW revealed to ONLY Paul by the ascended Christ! No self-respecting King James Bible believer can CHOOSE to ignore the role given to Paul alone by Christ himself! This utter DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO GOSPELS is what is well emphasized in the chart!

25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you ACCORDING TO MY GOSPEL,
and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the REVELATION OF THE MYSTERY,

26 BUT NOW IS MADE MANIFEST, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

27 To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.
    Romans 16:25-27

    1 Corinthians 2:8

Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy,
THAT IN ME FIRST Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering,
    1 Timothy 1:16

No one who parrots that they believe in the inerrant and infallible word of God for all matters in faith and practice, can deny the role given to Paul ALONE by Christ himself, for the body of Christ, in this the era of grace!
  • Helga Hickman And for those who presume to "see" the church of today existent ANYWHERE BEFORE the revelation to Paul, may be on psychotropic drugs, for it is made quite clear that it is PAUL, who be the very first member of the body of Christ!

    Howbeit for this caus
    e I obtained mercy,
THAT IN ME FIRST Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering,
    1 Timothy 1:16

Here he has just answered, and, no doubt, there will be more coming.  Also, no doubt, when he runs out of explanations, he will put me in my place, I being a woman, you know!!

  • Shane Bytheway Interestingly spoken! So, there was no "body of Christ" before Paul?
  • Helga Hickman Exactly, Shane Bytheway, but take not my word for it, but that which is written in the word of God, which is obviously foreign to you!

What part of IN ME FIRST..., FOR A PATTERN..., MYSTERY KEPT HIDDEN SINCE THE WORLD BEGAN, BUT NOW,... do you not get? Not to mention,...

6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect:
yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world,
    that come to nought:

7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

    1 Corinthians 2:6-8

Try reading the Pauline epistles, and live up to the claim the Independent Baptists make, that they believe in the inerrant infallible word of God, for, in truth, they do not!
Here is more!  I am truly surprised I have not been shown my place,... yet!
