in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

Crackdown on nightclubs in Brazil after Santa Maria fire tragedy

.
Count the people standing shoulder-to-shoulder in any one row on this street!  Have no doubt, they are standing also on the sidewalk!  The street is so very narrow, two fire trucks could not have positioned themselves in front of the building afire!  No permit should have been given a business that was to hold so many people on a street where firemen could not do their job, properly!  And their fire trucks are toy-size compared to any that would have been used in the USA to combat one such fire!  Furthermore, parked cars had to be removed for the purpose!  Look at the time wasted!  What a shame!  Certainly no "fire lane" was there!  This was a preventable tragedy, but it was a tragedy waiting to happen!

People gather outside the Kiss nightclub honoring the victims of early Sunday's fatal fire inside the club in Santa Maria, Brazil, Monday, Jan. 28, 2013. All the elements were in place for the tragedy at the Kiss nightclub early Sunday. The result was the world's worst fire of its kind in more than a decade, with 231 people dead and this southern Brazilian college town in shock and mourning.  [as of the time of this post, the dead numbered 235]

Crackdown on nightclubs in Brazil after Santa Maria fire tragedy

Santa Maria: Cities across Brazil are cracking down on nightclubs to ensure that they comply with fire regulations after a weekend blaze destroyed a club in the southern university town of Santa Maria, killing 235 people.

The fire was Brazil's deadliest in half a century and the tragedy resonated across the country, with many people demanding those responsible be prosecuted and that the government tighten up on safety.

Police said a flare that ignited the fire and was used by the band for visual effects was meant for outdoor use, the club's emergency exit signs were not working and the only available exit was too small.

Outraged Brazilians blame what they see as lax regulation and corrupt officials for the tragedy. There are fears that similar fires could break out at other clubs and public venues, especially as the country gears up to host the soccer World Cup next year and the Olympic Games in 2016.

Sensitivity is also growing in the run-up to next month's Carnival celebrations, which feature throngs of unruly revelers in parades and street parties in cities across the country.

As funerals and an official investigation proceeded, government officials and lawmakers pressed for tougher laws. President Dilma Rousseff, who visited Santa Maria over the weekend, urged local officials on Monday for more rigor in enforcing safety regulations.

Cities across the country quickly responded.

"We were all evidently shocked by the Santa Maria tragedy," Bosco Saraiva, the acting mayor of Manaus, a city of 2 million people in the Amazon region, told Reuters. "Yesterday we started a total cleanup."

The campaign featured club inspections and city authorities closed 17 because of fire hazards and expired permits. Americana, a city in the southeastern state of Sao Paulo, issued a blanket order for all nightclubs to shut down temporarily while new safety standards are discussed.

Brasilia and other cities including Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro have also deployed inspectors. In Salvador, Brazil's third-biggest city, the mayor ordered inspections of all entertainment venues, including Carnival installations now being erected.

Safety experts have criticized carnival floats and decorations in the past because they are often made with paper, plastics and other highly flammable materials.

'Somebody has to be responsible'

Cries of "Justice!" rose from a crowd of 15,000 people who marched through the center of Santa Maria on Monday night. Marchers carried flowers to a local gym that has served as a morgue and funeral parlor since the fire early on Sunday.

The death of a 21-year-old man at a hospital in nearby Porto Alegre raised the death toll to 235, authorities said on Tuesday. An additional 121 people were still hospitalized, 83 of whom were in critical condition.

Most of the dead were students suffocated by toxic fumes that rapidly filled the club after the flare set fire to soundproofing material on the ceiling. Others were trampled as they stampeded toward the sole exit of the "Kiss" nightclub, whose permits were under review.

Witnesses said club bouncers initially blocked the exit because they thought fleeing customers were trying to leave without paying for their drinks.

Families of the victims demanded explanations.

"Somebody has to be responsible," said Elaine Marques Goncalves, who lost one son in the fire and has another critically injured.

"I will not get my son's life back, but I want the authorities to investigate and act, for the sake of other young people," she said in a video interview on the website of the O Estado de S.Paulo newspaper.

Police have detained the two owners of the club and two members of the band whose performance led to the blaze. No charges have been filed against them, and prosecutors said they could be held for up to five days for questioning.

The popular club was authorized to hold 690 people and was believed to have been packed with about 1,000 revelers at the time of the fire, police said.

Santa Maria's police chief, Marcelo Arigony, said the band had bought a $1.25 outdoor flare at a local shop instead of spending $35 on a flare for indoor use. He said the club's fire extinguisher tags were either expired or falsified.

"Any child could tell the place wasn't safe," Arigony told a news conference.

Experts say Brazilian safety laws seem sufficient on paper but that enforcement is weak and codes can vary from state to state.

The Kiss nightclub appeared to have no fire escape, no alarm and no sprinklers. Experts said the soundproofing material that caught fire was banned.

"Inspection in this country is a joke. It's time for that to change," said the owner of several nightclubs in Sao Paulo, who asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of his position.

My comment left in response to the above article:

It seems the first to be charged should be the city official(s) who did not shut down the business until compliance with safety codes was effectuated! What a laugh! Safety codes, that can be traded for a bribe, most anytime!

Such safety measures should place the police department in the loop, so these could see that the business was not in operation until given a green light by the building inspection department responsible!

Can anyone imagine such dereliction of duty anywhere in the USA?  It would NEVER happen!  Yet, it is the Brazilian who is quick to point to the minimal failing we may here have!

Mercy!  I have lived in Brazil, and what we have here in the USA in immeasurable amount is order and respect for the law, which is flaunted disgracefully in Brazil!  Start putting these government officials in jail and see how compliance can be achieved in this a most lawless country!!

Proof the ESV, NIV, NASB, NET etc. Are the New Vatican Versions by Will Kinney

.
My people, go ye out of the midst of her,
and deliver ye every man his soul
from the fierce anger of the Lord.
Jeremiah 51:45 (King James Bible)

Wherefore come out from among them,
and be ye separate, saith the Lord,
and touch not the unclean thing;
and I will receive you.
2 Corinthians 6:17 (King James Bible)

And I heard another voice from heaven,
saying, Come out of her, my people,
that ye be not partakers of her sins,
and that ye receive not of her plagues.
Revelation 18:4 (King James Bible)

Thus, a common thread we find running through the entire word of God is that GOD HAS NEVER EVER BEEN ECUMENICAL!!  Such IS the endeavor of the Roman Catholic Church, which "lovingly" wishes to include ALL under the same perverted umbrella, to better CONTROL everyone in the New World Order!

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them,
nor serve them:
for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers
upon the children
unto the third and fourth generation
 of them that hate me;
Exodus 5:20 (King James Bible)

Quotes:
In the Nestle-Aland critical Greek 27th edition on page 45 we read: "The text shared by these two editions was adopted internationally by Bible Societies, and following an agreement between the Vatican and the United Bible Societies it has served as the basis for new translations and for revisions made under their supervision. This marks a significant step with regard to interconfessional relationships. It should naturally be understood that this text is a working text: it is not to be considered as definitive, but as a stimulus to further efforts toward defining and verifying the text of the New Testament."

Just open a copy of the UBS New Testament Greek and turn to the first page. There you will see a list of the 5 chief editors who put this abomination together. The 4th name on the list, right before the inerrancy denying Bruce Metzger, is Carlo M. Martini. In his book "In the Thick of His Ministry" the Jesuit Cardinal Martini writes: "The deification which is the aim of all religious life takes place. During a recent trip to India I was struck by the yearning for the divine that pervades the whole of Hindu culture. It gives rise to extraordinary religious forms and extremely meaningful prayers. I wondered: What is authentic in this longing to fuse with the divine dominating the spirituality of hundreds of millions of human beings, so that they bear hardship, privation, exhausting pilgrimages, in search of this ecstasy?" (In The Thick Of His Ministry, Carlo M. Martini, page 42.) Jesuit Cardinal Martini served on the editorial committee for the United Bible Societies' 2nd, 3rd and 4th editions. These are the "bibles" most modern Christians are using today when they pick up the ESV, NIV, NASB, NET or modern Catholic "bibles".

It is interesting to note that the latest United Bible Societies Text, descended from the Westcott and Hort family, boasts, "the new text is a reality, and as the text distributed by the United Bible Societies and by the corresponding office of the Roman Catholic Church it has rapidly become the commonly accepted text for research and study in universities and church." - Kurt Aland and Barbara Aland, The Text of the New Testament (Grand Rapids: Wm B Eerdmans, 1995), 35.

The St. Joseph New American Bible 1970 says in its Preface: "The translators have carried out the directive of our predecessor, Pius XII, in his famous Encyclical Divino Afflante Spiritu, and the decree of the Second Vatican Council (Dei Verbum) which prescribed that..."with the approval of Church authority, these translations may be produced in cooperation with our separated brethren so that all Christians may be able to use them." From the Vatican, September 18, 1970 Here in my study I have a copy of the 1970 St. Joseph New American Bible translated by Members of the Catholic Biblical Association of America. This Catholic bible version says on page 44 of the Introduction : "In general, Nestle's-Aland's Novum Testamentum Graece (25th edition, 1963) was followed. Additional help was derived from The Greek New Testament (editors Aland, Black, Metzger, Wikgren) produced for the use of translators by the United Bible Societies in 1966." - The St. Joseph New American Bible, Catholic Book Publishing Co. New York.

And ye, in any wise keep yourselves
from the accursed thing,
lest ye make yourselves accursed,
when ye take of the accursed thing,...

Nada!
Nunca.

Sabe qual é o GRANDE problema do Brasil?

Brazil's national motto: "ORDEM E PROGRESSO": A REAL JOKE!
...

...
...

Brazil's national motto: "ORDEM E PROGRESSO": A REAL JOKE!

.

"ORDEM E PROGRESSO" is the very first motto most any school-age child, who may be privileged to go to school, at all, will learn.  Drawing on my childhood memories, having spent 10 of my growing-up years in Brazil, I remember the excellent patriotism instilled through the reverent singing of the anthem to the Brazilian flag:

Em teu seio formoso retratas   -   Within your bosom you
                                                     present
Este céu de puríssimo azul,   -   A sky of the brightest blue,

A verdura sem par destas matas,   -   The matchless verdure
                                                           of these forests,
E o esplendor do Cruzeiro do Sul.   -   And the splendor of the
                                                            Southern Cross.

Ah! Indeed, 'neath the matchless beauty of Rio de Janeiro's sky I sat countless nights, right outside my bedroom window, marveling at the Southern Cross' impressive presence in a sky abounding with bright stars!

Then there was what I deem to be the most beautiful national anthem, which we also sang, everyday at assembly:

This is a most beautifully done video! The lyrics rolling so very perfectly well, to the operatic sounds of this marvelous tune that make for a lump in my throat, for, sadly, these are just words, meaningless words that speak of a valiant beginning for a people who could not live up to the dream once conceived by brave ancestors, for this enormous and bountiful land!

Indeed, "ORDEM E PROGRESSO" to be the remotest virtues to be found within its borders! Terribly sad!

But, while it is things don't go well in Brazil, they never quite have, one never lacks finding criticism directed at the United States of America by its "all knowing" citizenry!  Oh, even those who have never been here know just how horrible things are in this my country!  For, indeed, I am an American!  A proud American!  A grateful American, and I can direct no more than utter disdain for the ignorance of these who presume to slander and defame these my United States of America!

In the next post, I am publishing something I had gotten a few weeks ago, in response to the Newtown massacre, which, quite honestly, surprised me, for it is a "deposition" of a Brazilian who lives in Florida, and who speaks the naked truth!  For, just as she says, she was bombarded with "facts" her compatriots were so kind to share with her regarding this country in which she now resides.  It is quite long, but I will translate one paragraph pertinent to the point I here want to make:

"Eu fui obrigada a escutar que os americanos são todos doentes mentais, que aqui é uma fábrica de malucos e o que estou fazendo aqui num lugar que não tem segurança[?] Sabe qual é a diferença entre isso aqui  e o que os brasileiros têm ai ? Ordem."

"I was forced to hear how the Americans are all mentally ill, that this is a producer of nuts and what am I doing here where there is no safety?  Do you know what the difference is between this here and what the Brazilians have there? Order."

In a nutshell, no pun intended, this is EXACTLY what the difference is:
Order!  Respect for the law!

A simple thing like crossing the street is taken for granted in any Big Town, USA, for there are stringent laws to deal with traffic, be it pedestrian or vehicular.

Not in Big Town, Brazil!  There, you are not guaranteed you will make it across the lanes in one piece!

After a long absence, having forgotten how haphazardly driving is done in Brazil, I found myself having to be led by the arm by a friend, across a wide viaduct!  At the time, I laughed, but upon reflection, I must ask: how many friends has anyone reading this post lost due to having been run over by a bus, anywhere in the United States?  I have two, who lost their lives for simply being pedestrians crossing the street, in Brazil, and even I was almost run over when there, while "safely" awaiting the changing of the light at a corner, halfway inside the sidewalk.  The bus was making a right turn, I having my back to the street, peering in a store window, when I felt the "swish" on my back by the bus driving over the walkway, leaving tire tracks inches from where I was!  No big deal!  This happens all the time, it seems!

And living haphazardly is what most Brazilians do, most any day of the year!  "Laws" which might be written in the books, so any one city council looks good, are flaunted by businesses, right and left!  Bribes will get these a long way, until... we have the tragedy of a university town, Santa Maria, on the border with Paraguay and Argentina.  I have been there.  The beautifully majestic Iguassu Falls are nearby!

A night club designed to hold 1,000 patrons, had over twice that amount, and some in the band thought it fun to use pyrotechnics, which lit up the foam in the ceiling, and an uncontrollable fire ensued producing a killer toxic smoke!  I cannot begin to imagine the terror of those trying to escape through THE ONLY SMALL EXIT existent, having mistaken a bathroom door for an exit.  Some 50 bodies were found piled up in it, toxic smoke having overcome them!

This club, KISS, had been cited for several safety violations in the past!  It finally delivered the kiss of death to the unthinking crowd!  Fear not!  This is bound to happen again, somewhere else in Brazil!  Brazilians NEVER learn, and are always an avoidable tragedy away waiting to happen!  I would certainly trust not my safety to those in charge of the upcoming Olympics there!

Indeed, order and progress!  There is not a single Brazilian who could EVER soberly define what that means in Brazil, for it has never existed!  Not in our lifetime!

Difference between grace IN a dispensation and THE DISPENSATION of Grace! by Pastor Tom Bruscha

.
This is an amazingly interesting series, from which I must extricate a few gems that speak to particular things.  Through this sermon, I wish for people to understand something that makes for much contention for some: the difference between grace and GRACE!

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth,
and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart
was only evil continually.

And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth,
and it grieved him at his heart.

7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created
from the face of the earth;
both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air;
for it repenteth me that I have made them.

8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

9 These are the generations of Noah:
Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations,
and Noah walked with God.
Genesis 6:5-9 (King James Bible)

One often gets the argument from those who are not dispensationalists that God has provided Grace throughout the ages.  As Pastor Bruscha explains:

"There is grace in every dispensation because of the character of God: he is a gracious God!

"But there is a difference between grace IN a dispensation and the DISPENSATION OF Grace!"

In Noah's day to whom was God gracious?
Noah and 7 others in his family!!

Today, in His Grace, He is offering ALL OF MANKIND the bounty of His grace!

This is a marvelously concise explanation,
the very best example
for the differentiation to be made!

Across the Flood [the birth of POLYGAMY!] Soteriology 18 by Pastor Tom Bruscha

.
Indeed, here we learn of when POLYGAMY began, which it did not with God's people, but through those of the way of Cain!  This is a VERY interesting segment of the Soteriology series  (Soteriology: Doctrine of Salvation (Soteriology series Full List) and very much worth viewing!

It is awesome how God's word gives us all the clues we could possibly need!  Here is one of them, through the names of all until salvation came through Noah!  It is so very neat, it sends chills down my spine

"As man is appointed mortal sorrow, the blessed God shall come down to initiate and teach that his death shall bring the despairing rest and comfort!"

DNA vs. the Book of Mormon

.

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life,
and out of the holy city,
and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen.
Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

DNA vs. the Book of Mormon

by livinghopeministries.info

Uploaded on Jun 7, 2007 by Dave Flang

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints did not formally acknowledge the existence of a Heavenly Mother until 1909, in a statement on evolution by the First Presidency marking the 50th anniversary of Charles Darwin's Origin of Species.[18] The Church also later inferred the theology in the 1995 statement The Family: A Proclamation to the World, where the church officially stated that each person is a "spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents". Other references to Heavenly parents can be found in Latter-day Saint speeches and literature.[19] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavenly_Mother_%28Latter_Day_Saints%29

For more than 170 years The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has declared The Book of Mormon to be a scriptural and literal history. Subtitled "Another Testament of Jesus Christ," it recounts the story of an Israelite family who immigrated to and fully populated the American Continents. Jesus, after His death
and resurrection, is said to have visited this once great Israelite civilization existing in the Americas. The Book of Mormon teaches that these Israelites are the principal ancestors of modern-day Native Americans. New discoveries in DNA research currently allow scientists to test this historical claim. Thousands of Native Americans from more than 150 tribes have been tested to determine their ancestry. Mormonism's founding prophet, Joseph Smith, once said, "I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion..." Now the same DNA evidence used in courts of law can credibly speak to the validity of The Book of Mormon, which serves as the foundation of the Mormon religion. The evidence answers one basic question: Are Israelites the principal ancestors of Native America?

one who cannot say the word "terrorist?"

A glimpse into the life of a studious male youth in India...

.
Reading Dilish Daniel's candid account of the distress he felt regarding his future ( GREAT RELIEF! ) has weighed quite heavily upon my mind!  Thus, I thought I would jot down exactly what I know to be part of it, and only part of it, so you the reader would also get a glimmer of his reality!  Never would I know to actually realize just what he is going through, at his young age!

Being a youngster these days, I dare say, must be much more difficult than when I was one, and to remember those days, I must travel back in time quite far!  Nevertheless, there are similarities that even today will always permeate adolescence, be it they lived in the 20th Century or in Adam's or Noah's day; in the USA or in India!

Within us, within most of us, I pray, there is a need to excel, to ingratiate ourselves in the eyes of those we hold in high regard, such as our parents, our teachers, God, our peers… to prove ourselves worthy of their love and/or respect and consideration, perhaps even, admiration!

And in process of time it came to pass,
that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.
And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock
and of the fat thereof.
And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect.
And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
Genesis 4:3-5 (King James Bible)

Indeed, our countenance falls, our self-esteem is badly bruised when it is we don’t live up to the expectations others may have of us, or we of ourselves!  Thus, we endeavor to do a whole lot better, and we push ourselves… sometimes well beyond our capacity, for the fear of failure in us is a deterrent to our doing better!

In America, even in the Western World, excelling academically is quite an accomplishment for which the student is complimented and furthered in his/her ambitions!  But, scoring the very highest marks is not viewed as THE ONLY possible alternative.  Many, most, are quite happy to be “average,” and lead an average, fruitful and happy existence on all levels, provided we know we gave it our best!

Not so, in places like India!  There, the ONLY ALTERNATIVE for a student is to be AT THE TOP, to be THE BEST, the very TOP scorer in an exam!  Failing to do so exposes the student to ridicule within the family, from the town, a hardship impossible to bear and most unfair for any youth.

Never mind that to even compete he has to travel up and down the country, paying to take exams in selected universities, of which there are so very few, with even fewer openings per batch tested, from just one to perhaps half-a-dozen, praying and hoping he will place in be it one!  I know there is not a single person in this country that can even begin to imagine the pressure of having to study in the harshest of conditions, while traveling in over-booked trains that take him from one university to another!  India extends some 2,500 miles, north to south, and 2,100 miles, east to west.

Now, picture, if you will, that you have a new-found faith, and you have come to believe in the ONLY begotten son of God Almighty, in Jesus Christ himself, but in your travels you are sure to find not many such, if any, most praying to idols, even those in your own family and town; others just atheists!  Thus, you stand out, as it is, and failure, at any level, is absolutely NOT an option allowed you!

Once in an University, study is very competitive, and partnering with others is very difficult!  For then, there is also the language problem, as well as cultural differences to overcome, and a handful of religions.

According to Wikipedia:

"The Indian census of 1961 recognised 1,652 different languages in India (including languages not native to the subcontinent). The 1991 census recognizes 1,576 classified "mother tongues"[21] The People of India (POI) project of Anthropological Survey of India reported 325 languages which are used for in-group communication by the Indian communities.SIL Ethnologue lists 415 living 'Languages of India' (out of 6,912 worldwide).

"According to the 1991 census, 22 'languages' had more than a million native speakers, 50 had more than 100,000 and 114 had more than 10,000 native speakers. The remaining accounted for a total of 566,000 native speakers (out of a total of 838 million Indians in 1991).[21]

"According to the most recent census of 2001, 29 'languages' have more than a million native speakers, 60 have more than 100,000 and 122 have more than 10,000 native speakers.

"The government of India has given 22 'languages of the 8th Schedule' the status of official language.

"According to the 2001 census,[1] Hinduism is the majority religion, with 80.5% of the population of India. Islam (13.4%), Christianity (2.3%), Sikhism (1.9%), Buddhism (0.8%) and Jainism (0.4%) are the other minor religions followed by the people of India."

Can any one American brain, even a Western brain, begin to comprehend the above, much less actually envision living in one such an environment?  This a country which language structure continually morphs at the will of the politicians!  Through what sad isolation these live, in what is such a crowded place!  Such irony!

Thus, as I was saying, whereas we can go to most any university of our choosing in all 50 States, where the language spoken is always English, granted with different regional accents, very easy to overcome, in India one such student will seldom find another that speaks their language, having to resort to English, which is the one language in which the universities deal!

Now we come to what can be said to be the worst problem in India, for which there is no solution, which is the overcrowding!

Consider the Population Density per Square Mile alone:

Population    Land area (sq mi)    Density per sq mi
India         1,095,351,995           1,147,949                   954
USA            298,444,215           3,539,225                     84

In simple terms: the USA is more than three times larger, with a little more than a fourth of the population, therefore, only 84 people per square mile versus India's 954 in the same area!  Such figures are simply mind-boggling for us, yet, such IS the sad reality of the daily existence of these incredibly burdened people!

Our brains cannot begin to fathom such figures as part of our daily existences!  Yet, it is we who seem to do the most complaining, nowadays!

For the end of semester vacation to be had in mid December, Jithin Matthews booked a ticket on a train in October, to go from Guwahati University, in the north-easternmost of India, to his hometown in Kerala, in southern India.  He had no assurance that there would be room, and had to wait for it.

Such notification never came: there was no room for him, so he had to forgo his visit home!  His mother, of course, was heartbroken!

Would we ever experience such frustration here in the USA?  Hardly!

Regarding such vacations, while it is that many pagan festivities are observed with holidays, in India, classes usually resume on December 25th!

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (King James Bible)
