3 Critical questions about Mark Dever re Rick Warren by Pastor James Sundquist

.
Indeed, nothing corrective can ever be said against anyone for then "we’ll be misperceived as turning our guns on our own guys if we say anything corrective"

It is obvious Mark Dever does not understand the admonishments given in the word of God, such as:

14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:
for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?
and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial?
or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?
for ye are the temple of the living God;
as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them;
and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate,
saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing;
and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you,
and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (King James Bible)

Indeed, the following verse leaves no doubt as to what true Christians should do, moreover if they claim to be a pastor:

Abstain from all appearance of evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 (King James Bible)

3 Critical questions about

Mark Dever re Rick Warren

by James Sundquist

Dear 9Marks Board of Directors and Elders of Capitol Hill Church,

Your website invites inquiries and questions.  I am formally inquiring with three questions of the utmost urgency.

1.  Has Mark Dever publicly or privately rescinded or repented for the following statement published by 9Marks Newsletter?

Mark Dever (9Marks) on Rick Warren:

“First of all, let us affirm that we love and respect Rick Warren as a Christian brother, and we consider him a genuine comrade in pastoral ministry. His heart for evangelism is second to none. His passion to see people reached for Christ is pulsating, contagious, and quite frankly, convicting. His sincerity is unquestioned, and his apparent success is unparalleled. And we agree with Warren on the fundamentals of the faith. In fact, one of our primary concerns in releasing these reviews has been that we’ll be misperceived as turning our guns on our own guys if we say anything corrective. We’re not shooting at our comrade in arms here. Our intent is constructive, not destructive.”  Mark Dever, IX Marks

2.   In light of Rick Warren's public endorsement of "Catholics Come Home" and support of the Bible Series on History Channel ads which promotes this book:

Rick Warren Endorses 2013 Book, “Catholics Come Home” – Calls Catholic Evangelization “Critically Important”

 April 1st, 2013 |  Author: Lighthouse Trails Editors
A picture (and an endorsement) say a thousand words

See what “America’s Pastor” is saying about this 2013 release on the Roman Catholic” new evangelization program to bring back the “lost [Protestant] brethren” to the “Mother Church”:

“The mission of Tom Peterson and Catholics Come Home to bring souls home to Jesus and the church is critically important during this challenging time in our history. I fully support this new evangelization project.” —Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life, (emphasis added)

Some other noteworthy endorsements:

We are in the midst of a New Evangelization; and I believe this book is a signal moment in its success. It is also a sign that will lead many folks back home to the family of God, which is [the]Catholic Church.” —Dr. Scott W. Hahn, author of The Lamb’s Supper and Signs of Life (former Protestant turned Catholic “evangelist”)

“Catholics Come Home inspires each of us to share God’s love with others, in order to help change the world for the better, for eternity!” – Roma Downey, actress and co-producer of the History Channel series The Bible

Has Mark Dever made, or does he intend to make any statement since then in which he has or will publicly mark and expose Rick Warren as a false teacher based on any of his teachings and/or the above public endorsement of Catholics Come Home?

3.  Has Mark Dever publicly marked or warned John Piper for his promotion of Rick Warren and his failure to supply and public evidence that authors of discernment ministries articles and books have slandered Rick Warren?

This matter needs to be addressed because slanderers will not enter the kingdom of God and bearing false witness against a brother is an abomination to the Lord.

I look forward to your response to each of the above three specific questions as soon as possible as these matters have reached critical mass in infecting the Church and have become a clear and present danger to the church as well as creating a pandemic appearance of evil.

Sincerely in Christ,
James Sundquist
Director
