It seems that somewhere in Africa there had gone a pastor whose son was playing "Christian music." Upon hearing it, a very disturbed local lady asked the pastor what kind of music was it. He said it was the younger generation's version of Christian music!
She said: "It sounds just like the singing we did when worshiping pagan gods, before!" This was a recent convert to Christianity, pointing this out to this very bewildered pastor!

Mrs. Fay Dodson of Phoster Club passed this interesting letter to us.The Unregistered Churches of Russia originally wrote this letter to churches in the USA.
Dear Christian Friends, For thirty years we have suffered intense persecution, and now freedom is bringing another great harm to our churches. This damage is coming from the Christians in America who are sending rock music and evangelists accompanied by rock bands. Our young people do not attend these meetings because we have all commited not to participate in secular entertainment. This is a great burden on our hearts. Many come with Bible in hand and rock music. We do not know what words to use in urging that this be stopped. We abhor all Christian rosk music coming into our country. Rock music has nothing in common with ministry or service to God. We are very, very against Christian Americans bringing to our country this false image of 'ministry' to God. We need true spiritual bread, not false cakes. It is true that rock music attracts people to the church, but not to Godly living. We personally were in prison for 15 years and 11 years for Christ's sake. We were not allowed to have Christian music, but rock music was used as a weapon against us day and night to destroy our souls. We could only resist with much prayer and fasting. Now, we have a time of more openness, and we are no longer taken to prison. However, now it is Christians from America who damage our souls. We do not allow this music in our churches, but they rent big stadiums and infect teenagers and adults with their rock music. We, the leadership and congregations of the Unregistered Union of Churches, former Presecuted Church, have made an agreement to not allow rock music in our churches. We urge you to join with us and we advise you to remove rock music from America, and certianly do not bring it to our country. Do not desecrate our teenagers with it. Even the unbelievers recognize it is unholy music and they cannot understand how American Christians can be so much like the world. We can give you the conclusion that after Russian unbelievers have attended these rock concerts where Christ's Word was preached, the people were very disappointed and disillusioned with Christianity. We call this music from hell. We urge all Americians to stop giving money for the organization of such concerts in Russia. We want only traditional Christian music in our churches. This is the unanimous decision of all our leaders.

Base2lovesBase1 In my church, our praise and worship songs are mainly based on the books of Psalms and several other versus of the Bible. I know what this gentleman is trying to say about Contemporary Christian music. It should not be in the form of rock, rap, metal, etc. If the lyrics in the songs are honoring God and God accepts it, then who is anyone else to judge? Sometimes I am so confused by evangelists.

Unfortunately, I too get quite irate with so-called "evangelists" that are anything but which we see too much on TV! Their dress, alone, to advertise their worldlyness! We seem to have too many of them!
But, if you have listened to what Music Evangelist Alan Ives says, if the rhythm is such as to be inviting for you to dance... then it is far from being worshiping music! I recently saw a program advertised that said "God Rocks" on TBN! I doubt that very much!

I think the best measure is that if it sounds like worldly music, then it cannot be Godly music! God to be placed so very high above it and pure and awesome! The stirring we should feel is to be in our souls, not our bodies!

Helga,There is something else I need to say, it regards our kids. Yes, maybe you disagree with what he said about "God Rocks" and that may seem disrespectful to you. In my city we have a church called "The Church That Rocks". This church attracts kids to come and worship the Lord as they are. This church is packed with not only kids, but parents too. There are so many kids saved each week. Its so very touching to see kids that you normally would not see give their life to Christ. There is an all-kid band playing Christian music. God wants us to worship Him, and to come worship Him as we are, He loves us because we want to worship him. That's what is important, that we and and our children love the Lord, and our kids, if they love the Lord, they just my say...."God Rocks"! I believe God would accept that as a complement!

I fully understand what you are saying, Julie, but, weigh in the following:
Billy Graham, Rick Warren, Benny Hinn, Joel Olsteen... and, most unfortunately, a whole multitude of other false teachers we have today... Can you imagine greater numbers than at these events? What about the filing of "souls saved" one sees at the end?
Would you not say that "souls are saved and came to Jesus" in these?
But did they? The Devil himself disguises as the "angel of light" and makes his followers sound righteous... but these are not of God! And, dreadfully, these souls have been deceived!
Prayerfully, some will seek further and find true Salvation! But not all!
