I found reading this to be so very distressing, I could not even post it last Friday!
Anyway, as I had stated in my post It was just a matter of time: CHRISLAM has arrived!
CHRISTIANITY TODAY FACING TWO WAYS ON ADAM (Friday Church News Notes, June 24, 2011, www.wayoflife.org firstname.lastname@example.org, 866-295-4143) - Hindu gods can face in multiple directions at once; they can be male and female; good and bad. This reminds me of Christianity Today’s approach to doctrine. It is pure emerging church: syncretistic, uncertain, despising dogmatism. CT was founded by Billy Graham in 1956 as the flagship publication of New Evangelical thought, and its rapid apostasy is a loud warning to those fundamentalists who are enticed today by “conservative evangelicalism.” Christianity Today was very conservative in its early years. The thing that destroyed the magazine’s spiritual discernment was the renunciation of separatism and the subsequent evil associations. “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners” (1. Cor. 15:33). Now CT thinks it is possible to believe in the Bible while disbelieving what the Bible teaches about Adam. The June 2011 report entitled “The Search for the Historical Adam” is a shameless apologetic for “theistic evolution,” which is a cheap sellout to Darwinism. In particular, CT enthuses over geneticist John Collins, “one of the most eminent scientists ever to identify as an evangelical Christianity,” who “staunchly defends Darwinian evolution even as he insists on God as the Creator.” Predictably, CT also cites that evangelical superhero C.S. Lewis as an authority for rejecting the biblical Adam. Lewis ridiculously believed that man arose from the “animal form” and at some point God smote the evolving animal with human consciousness. For the sake of dialogue, CT also briefly cites the “conservative” view that “If Adam doesn’t exist, Paul’s whole argument [in Romans 5] falls apart.” Indeed, this isn’t just a “conservative” view, it is the only view that is taught in Scripture: by Moses (Gen. 2:19-23; 3:8, 9, 17, 20, 21; 4:1, 25; 5:1-5; Deut. 32:8), by Chronicles (1 Chron. 1:1), by Job (31:33), by Luke (Lk. 3:38), by Paul (Rom. 5:14; 1 Cor. 15:22, 45; 1 Tim. 2:13, 14), and by Jude (Jude 14). If Adam was not a real man, the Bible’s Messianic genealogy is nonsense and the gospel is a fairy tale. “And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli ... which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God” (Luke 3:23, 38). If Adam was not a real man, then who or what died when Adam died (Genesis 5:5)?
EVANGELICAL LEADERS SIGN STATEMENT PROCLAIMING GOD OF ISLAM AND GOD OF BIBLE AS “ONE GOD” (Friday Church News Notes, June 24, 2011, www.wayoflife.org email@example.com, 866-295-4143) - At a time when “evangelical conservative” John Piper has joined hands with Rick Warren in ministry and has proclaimed him theologically sound, we would remind our readers that Warren signed “A Christian Response to ‘A Common Word Between Us and You’” in November 2007. This document says that Muslims and Christians worship the same God and claims that “the future of the world depends on peace between Muslims and Christians.” The statement says, “... we must engage in interfaith dialogue as those who seek each other’s good, for the one God unceasingly seeks our good” (http://www.yale.edu/faith/acw/acw.htm). It was signed by the two major evangelical church growth gurus in America, Rick Warren and Bill Hybels. In this act they joined hands with hundreds of other signatories, including Roman Catholics (e.g., “Father” Joseph Daoust, President of the Jesuit School of Theology Berkeley) and prominent theological modernists and emergents (e.g. Harvey Cox and Elizabeth Fiorenza of Harvard Divinity School, Tony Jones of Emergent Village, and Brian McLaren), and self-esteem guru Robert Schuller. Other “evangelicals” who signed this unscriptural document were Leith Anderson (President of the National Association of Evangelicals), Robert Cooley (President Emeritus, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary), Mike Edens (Associate Dean of Graduate Studies, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary), Timothy George (Beeson Divinity School at Samford University), Lynn Green (International Chairman of Youth With A Mission), Peter Kuzmic (Gordon-Conwell), David Neff (Editor in Chief Christianity Today), Roy Oksnevad (Institute of Strategic Evangelism at Wheaton College), Richard Mouw (President of Fuller Theological Seminary), Doug Pennoyer (Dean of the School of Intercultural Studies, Biola University), John Stott (Rector Emeritus of All Souls Church London), Michael Treneer (International President of The Navigators), Berten Waggoner (National Director of the Vineyard Churches), David Yonggi Cho (senior pastor Yoido Full Gospel Church Seoul), and Bruce Clemenger (President of The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada).

U.N. PASSES “HISTORIC” HOMOSEXUAL RIGHTS RESOLUTION (Friday Church News Notes, June 24, 2011, www.wayoflife.org firstname.lastname@example.org, 866-295-4143) - At the instigation of Hillary Clinton and the U.S. State Department, the United Nations Human Rights Council passed a resolution supporting “equal rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation” (“U.N.,” CNN, June 17, 2011). Secretary of state Hillary Clinton “has made gay rights a key focus of the State Department’s human rights agenda, expressing her view that ‘gay rights are human rights and human rights are gay rights.’” She is therefore a fitting handmaiden to President Obama and his vision to acclaim and empower moral perversion. Suzanne Nossell, spokeswoman for the State Department, said that “this is really a critical beginning of a universal recognition of a new set of rights that forms part of the international system.” The United Nations is an antichrist institution that is at the forefront of building a one-world government and one-world religion, and it is a fulfillment of Bible prophecy. Jesus likened the end-times to the days of Sodom and Gomorrah (Luke 17:26-30). John prophesied that the end-times Babylon will be “the hold of every foul spirit” (Rev. 18:2). We are witnessing the fulfillment of Psalm 2 as the world unites “against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us” (verses 1-3). This refers to the wholesale rejection of God’s holy laws and the spread of moral relativism.
HOLLYWOOD ACTRESS CALLS MARRIAGE A DYING INSTITUTION (Friday Church News Notes, June 24, 2011, www.wayoflife.org email@example.com, 866-295-4143) - Actress Cameron Diaz has joined a long line of Hollywood elites who hate the institution of marriage. She calls it a “dying institution” and says that “we have to make our own rules” (“Is Marriage a ‘Dying’ Institution?” Associated Baptist Press, June 17, 2011). Not to be outdone, Fox News “expert” Keith Ablow said that “marriage is a source of real suffering for the vast majority of married people.” Fox News is more politically “conservative” than outfits like CNN or USA Today, but it is as much a handmaiden of the filthy pop culture and the philosophy of moral relativism as any of them. Surveys tell us that Diaz is right about marriage being a dying institution. A new Gallup Poll found that 60% of Americans believe it is morally acceptable for an unmarried man and woman to have sex, and multitudes are flaunting holy matrimony. Whereas only 5% of children were born out of wedlock 50 years ago, that figure has risen to 41% today. The entertainment industry has a big responsibility for these frightful statistics. Marriage has been under assault in modern times since the onslaught of rock & roll in the 1950s. Elvis believed in marriage, but he didn’t believe in holy marriage. As for Ablow’s claim that marriage is a source of suffering for the “vast majority” of married people, I have never seen evidence of that. In the 61 years I have lived on this earth, I have personally observed marriage to be a great blessing to countless people. And if it is so terrible, why do the majority of people still practice it? Why do even divorced people typically return to the altar for a second dose of this alleged most miserable of contracts? The bottom line is that marriage is God’s law and it is perfectly fitting to satisfy the deepest human needs at both an individual, family, and societal level, and that is why it has endured 6,000 years of Satanic-inspired assault. Only the Lord knows how many Hollywood actresses have in their old age wished they had paid more respect to holy matrimony.
BRITISH HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION HEAD SAYS “OLD TIME” CHRISTIANS INCOMPATIBLE WITH MODERN SOCIETY (Friday Church News Notes, June 24, 2011, www.wayoflife.org firstname.lastname@example.org, 866-295-4143) - Trevor Phillips, Chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, says that “old time” Christians are a greater threat to modern society than Muslims. In an interview with the Sunday Telegraph, Phillips said that “an old time religion” is “in my view incompatible with a modern, multi-ethnic, multicultural society” (“Christians Are More Militant Than Muslims,” The Telegraph, June 19, 2011). He warned about “fundamentalist Christians who are holding increasing sway over the mainstream churches” and who allegedly want to pick a fight with the government and throw their weight around, particularly over the issue of homosexuality. On the other hand Phillips praised Muslims for working hard “to come to terms with their neighbours to try to integrate and they’re doing their best to try to develop an idea of Islam that is compatible with living in a modern liberal democracy.” This man is living in a never-never land. There are not many “fundamentalist” Christians in all of Britain, and they simply want to be left alone to practice their religious faith without persecution from an increasingly unsympathetic Big Brother. As for Muslims doing their best to integrate, the fact is that many of the mosques are producing terrorists who have traveled far and wide to kill and maim and destroy. There are entire neighborhoods that are operated as Muslim enclaves and care far more about Islamic law than British law or humanistic political correctness.
POP GODS (Friday Church News Notes, June 24, 2011, www.wayoflife.org email@example.com, 866-295-4143) - The pop culture has captured the heart and soul of a vast number of people, from Tweens to Boomers, and it is a worldwide phenomenon. Pop musicians, actors, and athletes are modern gods and goddesses. Consider what they earned from their devotees last year. In the music field, U2 earned $195 million; Bon Jovi, $125 million; Elton John, $100 million; Lady Gaga, $90 million; Jay-Z and Beyonce (they are married), $72 million; Michael Bublé, $70 million; Paul McCartney, $66 million; Justin Bieber, $53 million. And we must not forget the sports gods. In spite of his breathtaking tumble from #1 ranking to #13 or beyond, golfer Tiger Woods was still the highest paid athlete, earning $75 million in the year ending May 2011. Basketball players Kobe Bryant and LeBron James were second and third, respectively, at $53 million and $48 million. The top 50 highest-paid athletes earned a combined $1.4 BILLION. Highest paid Hollywood movie stars include James Cameron ($257 million), Johnny Depp ($100 million), Leonardo DiCaprio ($62 million), Robert Downey, Jr. ($31.5 million), Will Smith ($28.5 million), and Jennifer Aniston ($24.5 million). The top 20 highest paid stars, directors, and producers earned a total of $1.04 BILLION.
CHURCH OF SWEDEN FILLED WITH ATHEISTS AND AGNOSTICS (Friday Church News Notes, June 24, 2011, www.wayoflife.org firstname.lastname@example.org, 866-295-4143) - According to a new survey, only 15 percent of the members of the Church of Sweden say they believe in Jesus, while 40% identify themselves as either atheist or agnostic (“Swedish Church Members Don’t Believe,” The Local, June 15, 2011). Jonas Bromander, the analyst responsible for the study, said, “It’s not really a problem.” Of the 6.6 million members of the Church of Sweden, only 400,000 attend services even once a month. Until 1996, church membership was automatic at birth for infants of parents who were members. The heresies of state churchism and infant baptism were drug out of the Roman Catholic Church by Protestants, and this is one reason why biblical Christianity is nearly dead across England and Europe. The stage is set for the appearance of the Antichrist. “Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8).
WESTBORO RIGHT ABOUT CALVINISM, WRONG ABOUT GOD (Friday Church News Notes, June 24, 2011, www.wayoflife.org email@example.com, 866-295-4143) - Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, picketed Mars Hill Church in Seattle last Sunday to protest the gospel that “God loves everyone and Jesus died for the sins of all of mankind” (“Westboro to Picket at Mars Hills Megachurch,” Christian Post, June 17, 2011). Westboro’s web site says, “God does not love everyone--in fact, He hates the majority of mankind, and has purposed to send them to hell when they die.” Mars Hill’s senior pastor, Mark Driscoll, a Calvinist, replied, “Doctrinally, they are extreme five-point Calvinists, or what I like to call Crazy Calvinists. ... Therefore, they believe all mentions of God’s love in the Bible are in reference to God’s Christian elect and not applicable in any way to others outside God’s elect.” In my experience, most Calvinists like to think of themselves as part of the non-extreme or non-hyper element and there are indeed major and important differences between types of Calvinism, but sovereign election is the fundamental issue. If God has “sovereignly” decided who will be saved without reference to whether or not an individual believes in Christ and if He then sovereignly draws and saves the elect--if people believe simply because they are elect--then there is no possibility of salvation for the non-elect. Under this doctrinal system, one can say in theory that God still loves everyone, but in practice He has determined only to save some and the rest will surely perish, and there is not a thing an individual can do to change his predetermined destiny. As Dave Hunt so eloquently asks in his book by that title, “What love is this?” Westboro Baptist Church is a ridiculous little congregation composed largely of the family members of its pastor, Fred Phelps. They run around to photo ops preaching their message of God’s hatred toward mankind, but they are dead wrong about God, as John so wonderful stated: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16), and, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love” (1 John 4:8). Jesus commanded us to preach the Gospel to every creature, and Westboro’s message is no Gospel (Good News) at all. So they are dead wrong about God. But it appears to me that they are right about Calvinism. If sovereign election is true as Calvinism defines it, then it looks for all practical purposes that God does indeed hate the non-elect. This is not because God actually does hate the non-elect; it is because the Calvinist system of theology is misguided and has gone off the rails in its attempt to systematize things that can’t be systematized and to understand things that can’t be understood this side of eternity. I once asked a prominent Calvinist, a man I consider a friend and for whom I have great respect, the following simply question: “Do you believe that anyone can be saved today?” He refused to give a straight answer to this question, because he thinks of himself as a “non-hyper” Calvinist who believes that God loves all men. In my mind, and according to my understanding of Scripture, nothing is more clear than the teaching that anyone can be saved who hears and believes the gospel, and anyone CAN believe the gospel, not just the elect. Thus, if I cannot respond with an unequivocal “Yes” to the aforementioned question, then something is wrong with my theology.
CONCLUSION: The Friday Church News Notes is designed for use in churches and is published by Way of Life Literature’s Fundamental Baptist Information Service. Unless otherwise stated, the Notes are written by David Cloud. Of necessity we quote from a wide variety of sources, but this obviously does not imply an endorsement. We trust that our readers will not be discouraged. It is God’s will that we know the times (1 Ch. 12:32; Mat. 16:3) and that we be as wise as serpents and harmless as doves. The News Notes remind us that the hour is very late, and we need to be ready for the Lord’s coming. Are you sure that you are born again? Are you living for Christ? “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof” (Rom. 13:11-14).
