Actually, the Catholic Church was translating the Bible into English long before any other group. The reason it was difficult to do, and quite frankly pointless, was because 1)There was no printing press, so everything written had to be done by hand, which is a long process. 2) Everyone that could read could read Latin, so it was actually more beneficial to have Scripture in Latin than in English. Also, a little less than 1 in 10 people could read at all. That's why the Mass has so many Bible verses in it (if you count it out, there is more Scirpture in a Mass than in the average Protestant service).

For 605 years, one Pope after another, some 75 of them, coming up with newer and more improved methods of LONGER-LASTING TORTURE of men, women and children!! These were the Inquisition years. Read Foxe's Book of Martyrs and learn of the crimes done by your ancestors!!

I was a Roman Catholic for 52 years, and I know exactly how much scripture is read, OUT OF CONTEXT, a phrase here and there in your pagan services!!

"...average Protestant service."? Well, for beginners, the "average" Protestant Church holds some three services per week. Whole books of the Bible are studied, CONTINUOUSLY, TRUE CONTEXT BEING DERIVED.
Services lasting more than the hurried 50 minutes you put into your weekly comedy!!

Actually, I was mistaken in the writing of the previous post: there are FOUR REGULAR activities in a faithful church in any given week. I forgot the Sunday School hour, yes, a full hour every Sunday PRIOR to Sunday Services, which last at least an hour and a half!
ReplyDeleteThen we have Sunday Evening Studies from 6 pm to 8 pm.
On Wednesdays we have studies lasting another hour and a half.
ALL OF THE ABOVE-MENTIONED STUDIES ARE DONE FROM THE BIBLE!!
